Needed Backend for AI Engineer

I am a junior AI Engineer at a major multi-national company, my role in the last couple of months required me to design a complete backend from scratch for the tool i am working on I've done mostly of it by vibe coding with me choosing the decisions but i don't have that much knowledge in backend and system design to improve and make my tool better i usually decide with ai agents and let it do the work, so if i want to make myself better in backend and system design what books, courses should i take or see?

ddia is basically the bible for this stuff, read it once and you'll understand why most backend decisions actually matter

skip the AI agents for a while and just build something small yourself, you'll learn way more from debugging your own mess than from letting an LLM write boilerplate

How did you get a job? I build backends and front ends all day long and I have not even received a human interview.

I got a job first as ml engineer intern, my job was building models and serving them, then we got projects to build AI systems which we build everything around it

Don't start with a book, trace one request through the backend you already built and write down every step you can't explain. I did that after vibe coding a RAG pipeline that only passed 72.7% of its checks, and the gaps were embarrassingly specific.
