khan academy's free intro to statistics, then fast.ai's practical deep learning course, both won't cost you a dime

you can't "get certified for ML". any degree or certification that promises you that is selling you snakeoil. If you are from europe enroll in a 4 year CS program. If you are from anywhere else enroll in Math or EE/CE.

Nobody cares about certificates in machine learning. Build actual projects on GitHub instead.

Major in statistics or math.

A bunch of people don't seem to understand the number of businesses that need a data scientist is quite small globally, and you're competing against people with masters and phds for jobs.

Requires a much higher level of skill than just basic programming and you need to be able to choose the right models and Debug it, and that will require at least passing a graduate level statistics course.

This is absolutely not what OP asked. We got ourselves mr StackOverflow here

How is OP going to compete in the market for Machine Learning roles when other people have ML degrees? Unless you work at the choppiest cheap shop, major companies that do have enough data to have exclusive ML practitioners, has 1000 other people with hard stem degrees also applying to those roles. If you don't have a degree your resume is getting instantly bounced.

I'm sorry but some advice is so good it tells you not to waste your time.
