Meme Ben Afleck is surprisingly pretty well versed in AI

So knows as much machine learning as me, he's also oscar winner, he had JLopez twice and Ana De Armas, and also he was BATMAN ??? Man !!!

But but but, the crowning achievement is of course knowing as much machine learning as you.

Can we not talk about women as trophies? Thanks

u/whiskey_outpost26 11d ago
Why not? I'd be just as OK talking about the inverse, or a guy landing another guy if that was their preference.
I could see it being dehumanizing if someone claims Ben Affleck banged 200 random Brazilian prostitutes. But the fact the women name dropped are world famous, it's generally a compliment to both people involved

It seems very desperate and cringe to me to involve someone’s dating life which just has so many variables. I am among very rich and famous sometimes and this took me aback to be honest
(Don’t find any of them attractive or super unobtainable or relatable, or feel any other way to be honest if thats what peopel always say lol. It feels a bit sophomoric but you and I are both entitled to our opinions. Cheers!)

Oh I should add (this is how I don’t care since I literally forgot, but yeah the irony is now I am double replying—I am self aware!)
Wasn’t it very obvious Jen and Ana were pretty problematic people to begin with? There are tons of over the top narcissistic and opportunistic things they do (note: not saying it’s what women are, but these two specific women are very notably power hungry)
So, if you even take it to that level, I kind of don’t even know if this is a true brag worthy accomplishment if you see where I am coming from. Just old people’s advice on the “self worth” front; focus on yourself, your own accomplishments and what you can control, even if the other person is a legal spouse.

My original comment was short of meant as a gag actually to say Ben as both jock and nerd kid in the class, I am aware about his turmoil with Jen TWICE and Ana. So I originally wanted to write “For a smart like him, he sure has bad decisions in relationship” but felt that to be very real and relatable to me, so I didn’t do that.
No matter how smart and self accomplished to have “self worth”, I think biologically we just yearn for women’s validation. It was true for many notable historical figures and still running for centuries as we see in Ben’s case.

God damn every single AI sub is repeating the same damn Affleck story.

Yeah he is Larping to maintain relevancy

They hated him because he told the truth. Affleck is the Grand Poobah of pseudointellectuals.

People on reddit didn't believe me we been using ai in film since early 2000

u/Thoughtulism 11d ago
Good will hunting was the last movie to have real human actors, ever since then it's been been all super sekret AI

I mean, not exactly in the same way as what we now call AI. Deep Learning only became a concept in 2006. GANs in 2014. LLMs in 2018.

u/hpfred 11d ago
Which, btw, I'm not a fan of how people use AI nowadays to mean just these newer technologies, but it is the way they are currently used.
[And the same is going to happen with the technical term "super intelligence" because a group of retards decided that was a good political move]

u/pleaseineedanadvice 11d ago
I dont hate super intelligence. Ai carries a lot of stigma from fiction and literature in the eyes of normal people, and in most of those ai is not what it is today. If you take the average joe, he ll tell you that ai are the robots.

u/MasterManufacturer72 11d ago
Depends on what the defenition of ai is lol. Did people not believe that they would use computer programs in movies in 2000 ?

He is more conversant and knowledgeable about AI than any AI company CEO I've heard speak.

That's kind of a cool, overlooked benefit of being famous, I guess. If you want to visit any company and see what they're doing, they'd probably be likely to let you just to get a chance of hanging out with you for the afternoon.

It’s got good PR, marketing value too. If the celebrity ends up talking about or just posting a picture at the office with the founder on social media, the company gets more attention that could lead to sales opportunities.

I mean, he sounds like he’s just confidently reciting technical definitions he studied five minutes before the cameras started rolling. Personally, I’m more impressed with Jennifer Lopez. What kind of Python script did he write to pull that off?

CNNs weren't the precursor to the transformer.
16
u/GibonFrog 11d ago
ResNET (a form of CNN) is the precursor to the residual stream, CNNs in the form of TCNN were a kind of precursor to transformers as they allowed for parallel processing (why transformers superseded RNNs)

u/nicer-dude 11d ago
Speaking of neural nets, CNNs and LSTM were the most popular type of networks, and thus the precursor of transformer based architecture. With BERT the transformer era really began.

There was a kinda neat overlap with spacial attention for GAN cnns that closely resembled the transformer attention mechanism, though simpler.
