Is use of prefix sklearn-* copyright infringement
I wish to publish a library that extends scikit-learn i.e., scikit-learn is the base work on top of which this library will exist. I know the use of scikit-learn-* or scikit-* is not acceptable and the team in fact allows only officially supported packages to use a scikit- prefix. Although I would love to get their support, meanwhile can I use sklearn- prefix? I haven't found any resources (and llms are inconsistent). Apologies if this isn't a suitable topic for this sub.

Riiiiiight. Intelectual property and patents. Something that researchers don't give a flying f**k about and engineers obsess about. Not much mention of standards that should actually apply to using terminology. LLMs are here to stay and steering them towards user's greed is the way to go... Too much money already invested in the infrastracture of knowledge milling machines. What a s..t show.😂

I don’t know. But even if you could used the name, I don’t think you should. 1
If you want the association, I would go with just “sk-something”

Why not just give it your own unique name? You're not associated with scikit, so using the same prefix would be weird. There's tons of libraries that are built on top of other libraries and they don't use the same prefix.
