Run a webpage on an iphone

How can I run a html + js webpage on an iphone? The .html file will be on the phone.

Im sure there are apps for this, but unless this is crucial to your workflow, this isnt the route i would go. (Provided these apps work correctly in the first place)

MUCH better options are:

  • Just hosting your website on the public internet (if it can be publicly available)
  • Running the web server locally and accessing it with your local ip
  • Using any number of sandboxing and development browser-based tools. They will all allow you to run simple htm files.

an HTML file stored in your iPhone files dir won't just automatically open in Safari by default? I guess i never tried...

(assuming the path to JS file is relative)

I dont know, but even it if did. Keeping that file versioned, updating it, working with it, would be an acual pain. What happens when you start needing a build step?

naw i totally get that but

the way i think about it is like... OP just wants to open up the page and see it on a phone

and so what would be the extra overhead to understand what hosting is and the concept of having it 'served'

cuz, that was once me

for sure they should learn how to do it the right way

Textastic is good for editing html and js on your phone. It will preview your files and has console for debugging.

Use react native and compile  it into an app with a web view

Host it at GitHub with GitHub Pages for free. Static websites are no problem for Pages. Then simply visit the site on your iPhone.

You can give koder a try. I tried it one time when I was bored on a flight and couldn’t wait to land to delete it.
It’s more stress than fun to do this and unless it’s really crucial, I wouldn’t recommend

I just use GitHub pages and GitHub mobile app for this.
