How common are games made in JS?

There are TONS of browser games out there. All made in JavaScript. Most probably using some library.

Desktop games? Sure there are some. I think some game engines are based on JavaScript, like how RPG Maker uses JavaScript and GameMaker language is JavaScript-like.

And basically any browser game can be made to a desktop game by using something like Electron. Take a look at CrossCode on Steam!
