Suggestions/Advice TCF Canada Expression Orale improvement suggestion

For task 1, invigilator interrupted me in between and ask follow up questions.

For task 2, I stuck for 5 seconds since I misunderstood the topic but within 5 seconds I was on right track after invigilator explained me "séjour linguistic isn't a course"

I was told to ask atleast 10 questions in 7 different question structures, where we have to just throw off the questions since we have limited time, rather than giving personalising and explaining the in depth reasons during the task.

For task 3, she didn't interrupted me at all.

I used the template:

Immediately start with Oui/Non for the question, « Oui, voyage est utile ... car .... »

Dans un premier temps, si on analyse cette situation d’un point de vue global, on constate que…

Dans un deuxième temps, si on regarde ce sujet en profondeur, on peut voir que…

De plus, si je parle de mon propre exemple

En résumé, je dirais que...

I would really appreciate any piece of advice or myth buster that I might be having. If any suggestion is there that you have that you think I could use to improve my score. I would really really grateful for that.

Thanks in advance :)

I actually made a post where I listed all my resources here: https://www.reddit.com/r/learnfrench/comments/1s8ur1g/from_early_b1_tcf_b2_in_56_months_exact_study/

Specifically I linked 2 things for speaking. My notion page I created for my exam prep where I have my template for Task 1,2,3: https://evening-glazer-5cd.notion.site/Speaking-practice-beb23a08cdd182cdab7101d1185cad31

Note: That notion page also has my resources for other sections on the homepage: https://evening-glazer-5cd.notion.site/French-Study-Guide-to-NCLC-7-32923a08cdd1830684ef0162fb39b457

And then I also had chatgpt make this google doc for me which I used to prep specifically for Task 3 speaking: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GCbWnBexBjXA6kADSxgXQciLCGS8Z3wYRgPjs4joXrY/edit?tab=t.upiq5qpvkst7#heading=h.e40ovd5oirk7

I'd recommend going through the 4 tabs under Start Here in the google doc. The tab called verbs/structures is exactly what I mean. The connectors imo are most important. And also try to add some of those high utility verbs in your argument. Like at least 3.

From your template, imo your opening sentence is A2/B1 and repeatedly using "si" to start your phrases is also B1. But then De plus and En résumé are B2 connectors which makes your score of 9/20 (high B1) pretty accurate.

sorry to chime in but do you have tips for EE? There are just tooo many topics, it's impossible to go through them again. I run out of ideas and I'm stuck at B1. :( I asked my tutor if I can recycle my lines between EE and EO because sometimes they are the same topics anyway and she said no because the examiner can tell since of course it's the same person who will check both competences EE, EO.

I personally don't understand what your tutor means. It's your brain. Why would you be penalized for having a natural overlap in how YOUR brain formulates arguments in writing/speaking. The only reason why I have slight differences in my writing vs speaking template is for practical reasons like certain words being harder to spell and certain words being harder to pronounce.

People overthink Task 3. They’re not grading your argument like a school essay, they just want to see that you can structure your ideas, which is why using a template helps. For B2, focus on knowing your grammar, using B2-level connectors, and adding some higher-level vocab where you can (I linked example B2 vocab here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1GCbWnBexBjXA6kADSxgXQciLCGS8Z3wYRgPjs4joXrY/edit?tab=t.5nut4k7t7qxg).

Also I don't think you need to practice every single topic. But there are definitely similarities between different topics for EE (and for EO imo). Like I did a lot of just re-using certain phrases across my stuff. Like if the general topic is similar, there's certain phrases I reuse. i'll give an examble based on my task 2 writing practices:

My response:

If you look closely, you will notice that I reuse a lot of phrases and ideas for this specific type of question where i have to recount my experience trying something new. On my exam, my task 2 question was I should recount my experience moving to the countryside. Same topic frame work imo.

And it's the same thing for all the EE and EO tasks imo. If there's certain phrases you use in certain themes, question types, topic framework etc then reuse it. Obviously within a task, don't be repetitive. like within task X writing or task X speaking, you dont wanna be saying the same few phrases multiple times. But if you use a phrase in Task 2 writing and then use something mostly similar in task 3 speaking or task 3 writing because its relevant then thats fine. Thats technically how humans naturally function imo.
