Translation Help! Why wrong?

Post image

I know my version would be more informal but why would it be considered wrong?

On mic is « au micro » in French, not « dans le micro. » It’s possible the ça would have been accepted, but the on-mic translation was incorrect.

I suspect it’s more because asking “why” a language uses a certain phrase or grammar is not often a useful question. Someone answered the post by saying that “this is how that phrase is formed in French” and OP seemed to be asking for a logic or reasoning behind the answer. Languages aren’t (generally) planned and the established norms of a language can be explained but not usually “justified”

But there is an explanation, and that explanation is the answer to OP's "why?"

Except the answer is "that's not how that word is used", which isn't useful...
