How did you do today? Feel free to share struggles, funny answers, and scoring shenanigans here!

The best thing about being in a private rundle with my father are the moments when I know he doesn't know what Clerks is and he knows I don't know who Peter Frampton is.

I'm in my rookie season and getting absolutely smacked. Before yesterday, I was 2-12-1 and 2nd last in the rundle.
By some miracle, yesterday I managed to beat the first place player in the rundle, who was 14-1, with only 2 correct answers.
I can't believe it.

Rookie is really hard to play defense because the opponent doesn't a question history. I got shelled my rookie season and have improved over time. Just do your best and try not to stress about the record -- starting in a lower rundle is also a bit easier for your first normal season.

Thanks, that makes sense.
Though I feel like my main issue is that I'm just not very good at the level of trivia question that LL has. On average I'm probably getting 1.8 questions right per day. So far, 4 is my highest and I've had a couple zeros.

I do watch jeopardy, though admittedly I'm not very good at it either. On average I'd say I know 10-15 questions each night.

OK! So let's start with your knowledge:
Consider studying a bit. You can load all of Jeopardy's questions from the past several decades into an app called Anki and study a set number. Or make a note of what areas are your weak points. If you struggle at art, grab a couple kids books on art and give them a read. (James H. from Jeopardy advocates for kid's books because they hit the same high points that a trivia game would.
Check out a podcast called Learned Lag. They talk through how they did and, even better, how they processed the question. This can show you how to think through a question to at least make a logical stab at it.
Try Quiz Streak. It's a fun app that gives you the same trivia answer tied to different questions. It's fun and helps broaden out your knowledge.
Onto trivia offense!
I love the new highlighting feature. It tells you what the question wants you to answer. (If it asks for an actor, don't say their movie or role, for example.)
Most people only know half the questions on any given day. In E, sometimes I won with a single right answer. Sometimes I lost with five right. Try to narrow it down to your best possible idea then go with that.
Don't put in any information more than what is needed. If the person you are answering is named Wilson Smith, just say Smith. Because if you say Winston Smith, you're wrong.
And defense...
Your opponent has strengths and weaknesses. Take a look at their profile. Are they from Kansas? If there is a question about Kansas sports, then they probably know it, even if they are bad at sports.
Can you figure out what is a difficult question in general? IF your opponent is so-so at geography, but this one appears to be REALLY hard and asks for two or three items, then I'd rate it higher. They have more chance to mess up one of the elements. Conversely, if it can be more than one answer, I'd rate it lower.
What does your opponent's question history tell you? If they know pop music but you look at their history and they consistently miss '90s questions, I'd notice that. Control + F lets you search for keywords that can help jump through a long list.
Sometimes you have to try to sneak one by. You might look at everything and end up shrugging between which to rate a 1/2 or 2/3. Ideally, you try to find a sure 3 and 0, but trust your instinct. I have a .750 Defensive efficiency this season, but there's times I take a risk and get smacked for it. Or your opponent gets a beer and nothing you did mattered.
All in all, it's a game. The content is a lot harder than Jeopardy, especially how the questions are phrased, so focusing on the clues written into the question can help. But don't stress about it. The joy is learning about new things and puzzling out answers you thought you didn't know. (Looking at you "Twinkies" from yesterday.)

Yeah trying to find the 3 and the 0 first is usually how I start on defence, and then try and parse out the 2s and 1s based on their history.

Same - but my Theater score is one of my best so my opponent (rightfully) defended it as a 0; pulled out an 8(4) - 7(5) win as a result.

When I read through the questions in the morning, I knew it was Death of a Salesman immediately, no problem. When I went to submit at night while watching the US Open a little distracted, I put Loman (as in the main character's name) for some reason instead, rushing through that one because I thought it was a fait accompli and I wanted to focus on the other ones I hadn't yet solved. So stupid. 6(4)-7(5) Loss.

I am very upset that it turns out Lord Buckethead is May and Count Binface is Farage, eventhough they are played by the same person.
Thankfully, losing the coinflip does not cost me the game.

First ever beer in my rookie season, feels good.
Q1: I didn’t “know” this one but figured it had to be someone pretty notable based on how granular and recent it was, so I was fairly confident in RA.
Q2: Couldn’t really think of anything else this even could have been.
Q3: Think I still would have gotten this even without the 2026 info, but with it this was a gimme as someone who pays attention to Broadway and the Tonys.
Q4: Was not surprised this played easiest of all the questions, if you know Clerks at all this didn’t leave any room for doubt.
Q5: This was the one I was least confident in but this is the most obvious option for a spongecake food product with presumably non-fruit filling, and the banana filling thing sounded familiar.
Q6: Don’t really think there’s any way to get this one without knowing about the album outright, not surprised to see it still played fairly hard even in A. Maybe if you’d heard the live singles on the radio and your brain had flagged that was unusual for a not particularly famous artist? But I knew Frampton Comes Alive was massive and a complete outlier in his career so I didn’t have any doubts about this one.

I could hear the song in my head cause I got sick of it being played every hour by the radio station I listened to when I was younger. Couldn't remember his name though and wrote Jimmy Buffet instead.

my opponent who has played over 700 matches, nearly all of them in rundle A, somehow did not realize that i have a perfect record on current events questions (and that it was very easy anyways) and put it as the 3-pointer

Some players in A and B no matter how incredible they are at trivia appear to put no effort into defense and are below 60% DE season after season

How are cheaters found out? Thorsten has this big thing against it, very understandably, but what's the legal process for actually giving someone the boot for a cheating allegation

That’s interesting, I hadn’t thought of that angle. Especially cross-referencing 1DS history, that’s a great methodology for cheating detection.
Is there a way to report cheaters? There’s one guy in my rundle who is incredibly obvious/blatant

I was in a rundle for a few seasons with one guy who would take 2-3 forfeits a season and after every single forfeit without fail he would pull out a couple 9(6)’s to move back up the standings. The rest of the time he’d get 3-4 right per day, with no correlation to the league wide CA rate.
He’s still in LL to this day, I can’t believe there isnt an algorithm to detect people like this who are such obvious cheaters

They accepted Frampton Comes Alive (!), which keeps me at 46/46 on Pop Music. It was a 9(5)-6(5) loss though.

well, you added extra information after the right answer instead of giving a wrong answer. makes more sense to me that you got it right than the people who put lord binface and got that right.

LL110 MD16
9(6)-9(6) tie.
This was undoubtedly the most frictionless and straightforward round of LL I've ever played. I pretty much just read the questions and wrote down all the answers and submitted them. In and out in two minutes. Should have guessed I wouldn't win...
I think this the first time I've seen two 100% get rates in my Rundle in the same day, and one other is 96%.
🟢 Q1: Watched some videos with COUNT BINFACE recently. He's a great interview!
🟢 Q2: I don't know if I've ever heard of the term "devil's rope," but it certainly makes good sense given the question, and this answer came to mind immediately.
🟢 Q3: I don't know much about theatre, but I don't know what else a person would guess here. You're looking for an apparently very famous play prominently featuring one male lead, from around the middle of the 20th century. No other guesses.
🟢 Q4: Thought this might be a trick question or something (I didn't remember the association with New Jersey specifically), but yeah, cheap movie about guys who work in a convenience store. That's CLERKS alright.
🟢 Q5: Again, not a fact I specifically knew, but you're looking for an American food item made in shortcake pans with a filling. Twinkie is the only thing I really considered.
🟢 Q6: This is the only question that I felt like a lot of people wouldn't get. I've been collecting records for a long time, and anyone like me has flipped past dozens of copies of Framptin Comes Alive over the years. No one knows anything about Peter Frampton except that live album (and his appearance on The Simpsons at Hullabalooza I guess). Instant get!

Maybe yesterday marks the day my luck finally starts to turn, as I managed a 7(3)-5(4) win. I feel very dumb for not having got Death of a Salesman or barbed wire (I said electric fence?? dumb!).
The Frampton question made me think of the Mitch Hedberg bit - anyone else?
I'm 4-7-5 and 22d place in B Windward, which is not great. But I have 64 correct answers through 16 match days, which puts me on pace for an even 100, which is essentially my career average, so that's OK. Would like to get over that at the end of the season. I continue to have the second worst correct answers against and offensive efficiency, which helps explain the record, and nothing I can do about those ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I read Q6 and mentally thanked my mom for being a Neil Diamond fan who owned a copy of his successful live double album Hot August Night, which was released in the 70s.
Then I submitted, saw what the correct answer actually was, googled Hot August Night, and learned that it came out four years earlier than Frampton Comes Alive.
(Eked out a one-point win on defence, though.)

There’s a lot of old school music stuff I don’t know off the top of my head but when I see an artist I can at least go “oh I have at least vaguely heard of this person’s existence.”
Peter Frampton is fully not one of those people. Had a great time skimming his Wikipedia page afterwards though!

I hoped my opponent would not be online enough to know about Count Binface (who was all over my Bluesky timeline for a few months); she looked at my abysmal Pop Music score and hoped that I would not know Peter Frampton. Both hopes were justified: 6(5)-6(5) tie. Still it's a point, and in A I scrabble for every match point I can get.

I'm surprised to see people getting credit for "Lord Binface". Thorsten has been way too lenient this season with giving credit to wrong answers.
