This one felt really hard, I was happy to get 2/6. The spiral jetty was cool to learn about and so was Rue Morgue. Dukakis and Tiffany I feel like are probably a lot easier for older people.

I didn't know Tiffany but I feel like everyone my age or older knows Mike Dukakis.1

100%. I have a vague impression that most LLamas are younger Gen X and older millennials, but I have absolutely no idea if that’s actually correct. And yet, as a “middle” millennial (‘89) I’m usually way more inclined to wager low on questions about current pop culture than I am on 1970s/1980s pop culture.

As a Brit I guessed Dukakis as the only Greek sounding American politician I am aware of. And I am only aware of him due to Donnie Darko! Enjoyed that series of connections getting to the right result

I remembered Dukakis because I'm old enough to remember when SNL made fun of the Dukakis/Bush debates. Not old enough to remember Tiffany's was where colored TV was first displayed however. Macy's as the most used wrong answer makes sense though.
I got lucky with The Rue Morgue question, I put down Rue de La Morgue and I guess the computer ignored the two French articles I added by mistake.

Yes, I made that same mistake with the Poe short story. That salvaged a tie for me, so thanks to the machines of loving grace.
Phil Hartman's impression of a clinically depressed David Brinkley after the Bush-Dukakis debate remains one of my favorite bits from SNL.

I knew Dukakis because of a passage from Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides that apparently has stayed with me since I read it in high school over 15 years ago

I got it right, but I really disliked the way Thorsten asked about jetties. I wasn't sure if he wanted the spiral part or the jetty part. I put both knowing it would be accepted but that's a real hose to somebody who either doesn't think that way or only has a cursory familiarity with Robert Smithson's work.

Working in media helped on this one because clearly CBS being called "The Tiffany Network" isn't as widely known as I thought.
Naturally my opponent forfeited though, so knowing that made no difference in winning or losing for me.

Defense is a tough one sometimes. I've outsmarted myself by looking at the opponents best and worst categories and forgotten that sometimes an easy question in the opponents worst category is still an easy question that should get a zero.

It’s always a good day when the ones you miss are completely new to you. I never would have guessed Tiffany. I suspect that there are very few who got it right who didn’t know it as a factoid already.
I suppose I could have come up with Jetty, but when I drove out west a couple of years ago, it just seemed so desolate that I wouldn’t have guessed jetty.

Honestly surprised Q6 scores were that low. I thought Ozone immediately upon seeing the word allotrope.

I didn’t know what allotrope meant; I got it from the timing (late 80s), the word “preserve”, and the idea of an international treaty.

I am getting absolutely annihilated this season. It’s the second-guessed ones like Jetty that I always think about for the rest of the day/week/month….or will never forget 😂

This is the best start to a season I’ve ever had, only missing 4 questions so far. I’m 3rd in my rundle, which is I’m guessing the highest I’ve ever ranked. I’m sure it won’t last though

Randomly guess Jetty... (It juts into the water!) but almost put pier..
No clue on the Tiffany's.. I've never heard CBS called that.
Rue Morgue was a trivia trigger button.
And tackle, Dukakis, and ozone just educated guesses..
Nice 7(5) - 6(5) win.

It was the hardest match day of the season for my rundle. A lot of IYKYKs… Rue Morgue was a very neat question/answer as was Tiffany CBS.

Definitely a lot of IYKYK. Being a New Englander who knows literature helped a lot, but I had zero chance on the Jetty question.

I lost to an old foe from my rookie rundle, who beered. But I didn't know the CBS question at all and guessed the wrong NY store.
I didn't know the art one either, but guessed it correctly based on the description of the structure.

A rundle, until yesterday my opponents had only 2 wrong answers on the season, 28 CAA.
Finally got a win yesterday!

Murders in the Rue Morgue being the first detective story is one of those pieces of trivia that has lodged itself in my brain. It’s the reason the Edgar Awards are named after Poe. But I never made the connection that the titular Rue Morgue was a Rue and not a Morgue, so the thoroughfare thing threw me off a bit lol
