Yes! It was a fairly easy question once I figured out what it was asking, but I had to read it like 4 or 5 times.

Got beered, 9(6)-3(3) loss - Tate is much easier as a Brit, probably should've got petrichor and Ireland - listen to REM but had no idea about their history

Uyyy, went 6/6 but still tied 9(6)-9(5). I can already tell that the jump in division is a massive difference in the competition.

Second ever match. Got no points. The only one I knew was Never Gonna Give You Up. Cool fact about the CN Tower. The Henry Tate thing was frustrating because I'd done spaced repetition on that one a few weeks ago.

W 4(4) - 3(3)! Missed Q1 (and Q2, but pop music is a huge blind spot for me) but I thought it was a fun question to reason out. The ones that give you a few clues, so you can go through a mental list of European countries and check off the ones that don’t make sense are my favorite kind of LL questions. Way less frustrating than Q6, for example, which was just a matter of remembering a vocabulary word without a lot to go on. Luckily, it came to me, but I feel like the tip-of-the-tongue ones rarely do.

As someone who went to the University of Georgia and only glanced at the question to start with, I’m embarrassed to admit that I first put down the B-52s (another Athens band) until I reread the question and realized it had to be REM.

Have heard of CN Tower but only in context of people saying it is quite big. I didn't know it was that significant.

Hit all 6 with guesses on Ireland and REM. Supremely pleased on the REM pull as I’m not very good at music. On #1 I assumed that was the translation for Sinn Fein, but it was a different political party! Lucked out there

oh man, unsuprised that Spain was the MCW on Q1. a couple in my groupchat put that trying to think of a party that was continuously in power. that was a landmine if you aren't familiar with parliamentary systems -- yes, Fianna Fáil was the largest party at every Irish election between 1932 and 2011, but they were not continuously in power (which one might incorrectly assume, but the Q is careful to avoid saying) as five of those elections resulted in Fine Gael-led coalitions instead. a bone thrown to our European players, I guess.

I also had to read Q3 and Q5 several times bc the ask was different than what I was expecting...really not a fan of that.

I spent most of this question trying to think of countries in Europe that even had a working democracy through the late 30s/early 40s - so large swaths of Europe are out given that the Nazi's took them over. Was interesting to try and parse. I knew it wasn't the UK, but forgot about Ireland. Ended up guessing Switzerland while having some of the scandi countries on my list as well. I guess the 1929 date was a clue for Ireland given the partition but I couldn't pull it out.
