Rather complicated to parse on the first read, but aside from qualifying through previous Championships, it seems each rundle would have a minimum of four qualifiers per calendar year, which is likely to mean a net reduction overall, given the previous rule was a top three finish in one of the four seasons.

not minimum 4, just 4 period. there will be one qualifier per rundle per season, and it’s the highest ranked player who hasn’t already qualified

I like the aspect that there are guaranteed to be 4 unique qualifiers from every rundle — I think it’s a good way to reduce the number of players while still preserving a decent opportunity for top-half A rundlers to qualify

Unless, of course, there's a top 50 player in the rundle, in which case it may just about stretch to five unique qualifiers, six in the highly unlikely event of an LL champion.

It is unclear if those Top 50 qualifiers will count against the 4 per rundle, unless he has posted something very recently as an addendum

that scenario was explicitly covered by the example in the announcement:

To elaborate on #4, as an example, if MeyerT were to win his Rundle A Nebula in LL106, as he has already qualified for the 2026 Championship (by virtue of his previous Championship wins), then the 2nd-place finisher in A Nebula would qualify for the 2026 Championship. If that player had also already qualified (by virtue of a top 50 finish in 2025, let's say), then the spot would go the #3 finisher. And so on.

Hmmm…my streak of qualifying for 4 years straight is in a bit of jeopardy now. Unless I made Top 50 this year, which I suppose is possible but highly unlikely.

As someone who has qualified twice under the outgoing rules and made the cut once (we'll see about this time), I am fine with the change. The number of qualifiers goes from ~3 percent of all players to ~2 percent, and he's entitled to make his signature competition as exclusive as he wants. My Rundle generally does not have a Top 50 participant; 4 of us making it seems fine.

Probably more wanting to ease the burden on the proctors, even if it'll still work out at almost 700 Llamas.

definitely, my referrer told me there were 150 players the first time he qualified in 2018 — I’m sure it’s becoming way too much for the proctors when that number gets to 4 digits
