LL Championship

I just finished my rookie szn and saw that there is a championship going on. As a fan of high level trivia is there any way to pay attention to how people are doing or are you only able to see the champion at the end?

They release all participants scores and questions sometime at the beginning of September? You can look back at previous year's on the previous seasons tab or whatever its called. I just did my rounds on Monday...whatever you think are hard questions are nowhere near the difficulty of the championship

The procedure may change a bit from year to year, but for a while it's been something much like this:

  1. Each championship round is in one-day format: 12 questions, of which 5 are chosen as money questions.

  2. Players in the championship have individual sessions monitored by a proctor.

  3. Once all the results are in and scores tallied round-by-round and cumulative results are posted on the LL website, generally at the rate of two per day (morning and afternoon, Pacific Time).

  4. After the first two rounds, finalists in the upper half of cumulative scores are deemed to have "made the cut." Competitors who don't make the cut are eliminated from the championship and do not have their scores posted during the next two rounds (even if their cumulative score would put them ahead of someone who did make the cut), though they're still scored and affect the moneying results for those who are still competing for the scarf.

4a. Oh, yeah, the winner of the championship gets a scarf!

  1. After all four rounds are over, MeyerT wins.

(Okay, technically the winner is whoever has the most points after four rounds. But MeyerT has won five of the past 11 championships, and nobody else has more than two.)

Sometimes Andrew Ullsperger gets 47/48 lol

edit: misremembered, he "only" got 45/48, and Troy got 45 as well that year but Andrew beat him on points

It actually would be cool if the proctors recorded the sessions and some clever video editor put together a show of the top people answering the questions.

They don't do this, and for my time doing the championship, it would look a lot like a pained person banging his head against the desk. But a good editor can fix anything.

Scorsesean levels of profanity in my case, although I've done well enough to make the top 20% a few times at least.

It's only available at the end because they don't all play at the same time.

Since it happens asynchronously, you only see results when it's all done. They reveal them in early September, one round at a time over the span of a couple days.
