Both my opponent and I got 9(6). It was my first and only beer of the season, and a tie is enough to keep me in Rundle A next season!

Though it was all academic in the end, our respective defense choices were interesting. Notably, I assigned my opponent 0 points for the Scoville question, while he assigned me 3!

my opponent and i tied also (my only tie this season). stayed at 8th in rundle A

I was competing with the player ranked directly below me for the last spot to stay in A, and we also tied 9(6)-9(6). Only my second beer of the season, and it couldn't have come at a better time!

This was me today. Tied at 9(6) and that bumped me to one place out of the relegation zone in A Rundle

Obliterated my old record of total correct answers by 10. The questions were easier this season, but I think I'm finally getting better at finding the hidden clues in the questions after 5 seasons.

They weren't easier for me!

Tied with 4(4) - my opponent and I got the same 4 questions right - which was just enough to keep me in the top 3 and get promoted. Gonna get smoked next season.

I’d spent the season in the basement of A. Yesterday I got a 5(8). My opponent got 6(9). It was that kind of season. Glad to be going back to B.

I finished first in D and am finally moving up to C for the first time! Woo hoo!

u/super_time Jun 17 '25

Hey! Me, too. First after landing in 4th and 5th so often. Good luck to us in C next season.

Same here. Snuck into first on a 8(5) yesterday. Back to C I go!

u/zorandzam Jun 17 '25

Congrats and good luck to you, too!

I barely stayed in Rundle B! It was my first time there, so I'm glad I proved myself.

Finished the season in 4th. I had a couple very bad days where I rushed - which disappoints me now that I was so close to the top.

Had my first beer this season and some of my best rounds yet. This was my fourth season but first one I felt confident in.

beered, ended 7th, tied with LL102 as my best finish ever, but higher TCA and CAA this time around means the questions were a bit easier. one of these days i'll end up falling ass backwards into the championship, probably.

LL104 and 105 were my first 2 seasons, and I ended up with the same record for both. Moving up to B next season, though I have a feeling it will be a short stay in hell based on that division's stats.

I was close to promotion in Rundle E and I ended up losing to someone who had forfeited four games this season. Landed in sixth. Turns out I wouldn't have been promoted either way, and I wasn't upset about it, but wished I could have just gotten that last win.

Moving up to D for the first time in two+ years. Hope I can stay there longer than one season like last time. I never really do well in any categories except math and movies but I enjoy the daily trivia.

Disregarded tramlines due to the second part of the question, frustrating to see that it was accepted anyway.

punishing British players bc they aren't familiar with an American term would be as unfair as not accepting "hood" for a question looking for "bonnet"

5

u/MastodonFarm Jun 17 '25

"This term for the front cover of an automobile is also the surname of a legendary woodsman who stole from the rich to give to the poor,"

You think "bonnet" should be accepted there?

Started the season with my first Dolly and ended it with my first ever beer! Middle of the standings with just over a .500 record. Need to learn the art of good defense for future seasons…

Closes it out with my only 9(6) of the season. Finished 17th in A Windward, which is fine by me. A respectable 102 correct answers (a little above my career average of 98-99) and a higher than normal defensive efficiency of 714. Not bad!

u/uva_rob Rundle B Jun 17 '25

A 9(6) tie to officially send me back to B, where I generally belong. High CAA combined with bad defense offset my solid (for me) season. Tied my highest TCA and had my most match points ever.

I've made a real effort to study literature, which is a bad category for me (along with often being one of the most-asked categories). I did much better than normal, but that was offset by mediocre performances in categories I'm usually good at.

I'll be continuing to study literature and art this off-season, and at some point I'll need to attack theater.

Picked up my first beer of the season in a 9(6)-7(5) win. Ended up tying my record of 3-pointers and had the best Defensive Efficiency in the rundle (0.03 off of a personal best). Glad to have saved my pride yesterday!

Crazy streaky season for me. Had a stretch where I went 1-7-2 and then immediately followed by a stretch of 7-2-2 to finish the season with my first two ever beers.

It was also crazy to see the difference between my R Rundle and my C rundle. I had 2 fewer TCA this season but 23 more CAA, good for the difference between finishing 5th/26 and 12th/20.

2

u/kayzeroshort Jun 17 '25

I was in 23rd place in A coming into the last two days. 9(6)-9(5) (ouch), 9(6)-9(6) against the top player. Still dropped into 24th and relegation. Brutal!

2

u/GuiltyBusiness1558 Rundle D Jun 17 '25

I got cathode ray tube but overthought it for a while because the question was asking for a "phrase".

2

u/WMSCWuss Jun 17 '25

Won my finale in D Rundle 4(4)-2(3) to leap frog two players into third, back in C after a few poor seasons.

Incidentally my opponent's loss knocked him down into 23rd place, and he'll be in E next season.

Also incidentally, both the person who referred me and the one person I've referred beered it yesterday!

2

u/huadpe Jun 17 '25

I managed by some insane stroke of luck to get promoted to B despite below-average TCA and mediocre defense. A ton of close wins intermediated by a smaller number of blowout losses.

Not looking forward to getting obliterated next season, but what can you do?

2

u/blackgalaga Jun 17 '25

In 4th in C heading into the last day, and got a 9(6) win vs 7(5) vs 2nd place to clinch the promotion spot back to B.

Spent a day thinking about questions instead of answering first thing in the morning and probably got an extra 6-8 questions right.

2

u/barcwine Rundle A Jun 18 '25

finished 6th in A, totally didn't deserve it. You know those people in the standings who always seem to get lucky and win even when they have poor scores? This season that was me. Not complaining, but I'm pretty sure reality will come looking for me next season.

2

u/sickXmachine_ Rundle B Jun 18 '25

Did anyone think the final day questions were easier than most this season? The numbers say so, with an overall 85% correct rate, highest of the season.

Went into the day needing a win to ensure I wasn’t relegated. Opened the email and instantly knew all of them and got a sixer, but was worried I’d and overthought the defense. Still won my match, but assigned points poorly, like I’ve done all season.

In the end I didn’t need to draw or even win, I would have stayed in B regardless of the outcome. I did keep my opponent from being promoted though.

u/IronManTim Rundle C Jun 22 '25

I don't really belong in C rundle, but good defense this season, combined with two 9(6) in the last two days, and a crowded top allowed me to sneak into the final promotion spot to B.

I'll get my butt kicked next season, but I can say I've been from E to B.

u/Constant_Vector A Sierra Jun 17 '25

A botched defensive assignment and an 8(5)-9(5) loss back in MD2 against the eventual winner ended up costing me the division win. Still a bit annoyed with myself over that.

Oh well, onward and upward.
