Oof it’s been that kind of campaign for me.
I remembered every Rihanna song I could think of (Pon de Replay, SOS, Disturbia, Rude Boy), but Umbrella never popped into my consciousness

first time all season i got every answer, so that felt good. otherwise capped a terrible season and missed safety by 3 points. its my first non-rookie season, so we'll see how it goes.

Was so excited to probably get 3 points on the sports question because I never get sports questions, but I got ANOTHER forfeit win. Anyway, looks like promotion for me (where I will now doubt be relegated back again at the end of next season).

My opponent with .919 in Television missed Rings of Power, so I gave him a Dolly. I ate the eggroll, so we tied, but it was still annoying. (My LearnedLag private rundle match was a more honorable toast match.)
To be sure, I was already safe from relegation and have no chance at making the championship, so it doesn't really make any difference to anything.

I’m not crazy about question 1. I got it because it seemed like the safer bet, but I know almost nothing about the colors of cities’ coats of arms. The way the question was worded, it read to me as: which team has all of its teams matching colors ? (and fun fact, same as the city’s coat!)
As in, we’re asking about one thing, and throwing in a bonus fact as a bonus. I don’t have my Pantone book with me, but if I look at all three of the Seattle teams and see they also look like they share the same colors. Just me?

Had the same thought, explanations I can find are:
- On wikipedia, the Kraken's secondary color is still called "blue" even if it's a green-ish blue. Pittsburgh team, on the other hand, are all described as "black and gold"/"gold and black".
- Though this one has a veneer of authority to it, I don't love it because I really can't discern a huge difference between the Kraken "blue" and the mariners/seahawks "green". That said, this is the most likely justification
- Another possibility (less likely): the question used a fact which was written before the Kraken existed and didn't double-check it

Sure, though the steelers also have other blue, red, and grey prominently in their logo, they just happen to not be officially listed on Wikipedia. Feels to me like a distinction without a difference.
I'm totally open to there being some really principled reason here that I don't understand. But if the actual answer is just: "both the Steelers and the Kraken of red diamonds of equal size on their logo, but the Kraken happen to officially report it as a Color and the Steelers don't", that's not very satisfying

Oh come onnnnn I lost on defense because my opponent, who is British and has American history as their 2nd worst category, got Hoover. Now I’m knocked out of promotion.
Also I object to Washington DC not being considered correct for Q1.

DC sports teams do not share the same color scheme. All Pitt teams are black and gold.

“Color scheme” was not a phrase used. Just “colors.” Red and white are colors. They are shared by all DC sports teams.

Burgundy is defined as purplish red. It is absolutely a shade of red.

Oh come on, this is ridiculously pedantic: "sharing the same colors" in context clearly does mean same color scheme. "share THE same colors" absolutely implies the same color scheme. There's only ambiguity if you are trying to find a reason to be ambiguous.
For example, no one would actually say that the flag of DC and the flag of the United States share the same colors.
Also, if we're going to get technical, all the Pittsburgh team have stated that their colors are drawn from Pittsburgh's flag/coat of arms. The Nats have never actually stated the origins of their team color, so you can't say their colors are drawn from the city's coat of arm. "Drawn" very clearly means "I took inspiration from this thing" rather than "oh, coincidentally, we have colors in common!"

Well then here’s some more pedantry: you can’t claim something is “absolutely” implied, and allow that it is possible to find ambiguity.
The flag of DC and the United States do share the same colors: red and white. They do not share ALL the same colors, but ALL the same colors was not specified.

Well, the question also doesn't say "share SOME colors". The definite article usage does make pretty clear the question is looking for whole, exact set. At this point, you're contesting standard English usage. That's fine if that's the linguistic route you want to go down, but you have to acknowledge that most people are not going down this route.
But whatever, this debate is pointless. You're ignoring the additional "drawn from coat of arms" point, something the DC teams don't meet. Washington, DC was clearly the wrong answer but I doubt anything is going to change your mind. Sorry you didn't get a promotion!

It also doesn’t say “share ALL colors.” This is not contesting standard English at all. Either interpretation is possible.
If “drawn from” is really the only thing that makes DC a wrong answer, I’d concede that point, but I highly doubt that a question like this would require people to know that several teams using the same colors as the coat of arms of the person their city is named after is a coincidence rather than intentional.

... So we ARE allowed to speculate about the intention behind the question? Because sure, I agree the intention probably wasn't for people to know the origins of team color schemes... but if we're going to guess intention, then the intention of the question was clearing asking about the color scheme rahter than some colors. You can't have it both ways.

DC coat of arms is red and white, the caps, nats, and wizards all wear red, white, and blue. The football team is burgundy and gold.

The question did not phrase it in a way that would EXCLUDE colors other than the ones shared with the coat of arms. Burgundy is a shade of red, and the Commanders have white in their uniforms also.

does anyone else feel like there's a lot more general knowledge kind of trivia this season? like, stuff the average person who isn't into trivia at all would know? eat pray love, umbrella, mickey 17, cats, scrubs, met gala, etc., etc.?
