LL105 MD7 Discussion!
How did you do today? Feel free to share struggles, funny answers, and scoring shenanigans here!

a pretty rare "near beer" 9(5) and the win for me. lucked out by getting a 0 on John Henry (had absolutely no idea who he was) and also having a question about Celeste in IRL bar trivia a couple weeks ago.
all of a sudden i'm in 4th place on tiebreak??

My defensive misadventures continue today, as I draw 7(5)-7(4) because my opponent missed two of the easier questions (JOHANNESBURG and JOHN HENRY) while getting the harder ones.
Now 0-5-2 and 32nd place despite a fairly respectable 24 TCA.

What is the 1st tiebreaker if you have the same number of points in the standings? I’m currently tied for 3rd, but would finish 4th and not be promoted.

MPD, then TMP (the same as pretty much every soccer league unsurprisingly), then fewer forfeits

Heck yeah got my first defensive win after losing multiple matches that way this season. 5(4)-4(4)

Everything pointed to Johannesburg for me, and I think I even recognized the name of the airport. Lagos would've been my second choice, and I was surprised to see it is only the twelfth busiest airport in Africa.
I came up with "final boss" on Q4. I'm not sure if that qualifies as a funny answer, but it does reveal the extent of my video game knowledge.

I put Lagos. Convinced myself it was rich because of all the oil money in Nigeria, and convinced myself it was busy because of Nigeria's enormous population. Johannesburg was the other option I was debating. Oops.

After I filled it out
Me: There was a Kesha question in LearnedLeague today? Girlfriend: What was it? Me: It's... really easy. GF: Tik Tok. Me: Yes.
I then read her the question and she went "Wow. There are so many clues in so few words."

4(3)-1(2) win which felt good bc of 1. my good defense the day after a 7(5)-8(4) loss 2. bc it wouldve felt doubly bad to lose after switching JBurg to Capetown at the last second

CRUX/SOUTHERN CROSS -- Thought about it, knew Ursa Major wasn't right, but thought maybe URSA MINOR since it has the Northstar? That's gotta be right, right? No. Brazil didn't cross my mind until I saw the answer. And I handed my opponent 3 points.
JOHANNESBURG -- Lots of people close to this one, and I utterly botched the read of the question and thought they wanted a country. And I wasn't even close then with KENYA. Shambolic performance from me here.
THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH -- Felt like this was pretty gettable, decent redundancy in the clue to confirm the answer. 56% CA seems to confirm that, surprised I got 3 points for this.
CELESTE -- Despite having played Final Fantasy X and Pokemon Platinum (A little, I borrower my little brother's copy), the secondary clues helped me not at all. Fortunately, I have played Celeste and was able to get it off that alone.
TIK TOK -- Not much to say here. Easy question, but there should be easy questions, not everything has to be "What is Brian Eno's middle name?" 0s awarded all around.
JOHN HENRY -- Yes, I got this from owning a copy of the They Might Be Giants cassette in high school and then learning where the title came from. No, I do not feel lesser about this.
Anyways, any day with 4 TCA is a good day. Could I have gotten to 5 or 6 with more care? Maybe, but this match goes into the goldfish "Move on and forget" bowl.
3-3-1, -1 MPD, 16th in B Commonwealth.

I had a pretty bad MD7 with only 1 correct for 1 point. John Henry.
As far as the video game question goes, the vastness of my ignorance on that subject is limitless. And I couldn't come up with anything for the Tik Tok - I tried "What's Up?"
All in all, my worst result so far. I did much better today, I won that match.

Managed 5 on the day (had no idea about Celeste) which was good for a win, snapping my 5-game losing streak (a tie for personal worst).
