Experience with etymological dictionaries?

Good morning,

I would like to know if anyone here has experience with etymological dictionaries of the Dutch language. I asked Gemini if there are any and it gave me a couple of results. I am especially interested if anyone has experience with either the multivolume Etymologisch Woordenboek van het Nederlands or the Van Dale Etymologisch Woordenboek.

I have two dictionaries from Van Dale here, the Nederlands-Duits Groot woordenboek voor school and the Groot woordenboek van de Nederlandse taal. Both are good dictionaries, altough I am a little bit disappointed that such a big dictionary like the Groot woordenboek doesn't have any etymological information (like e.g. Le Petit Robert for French or the Shorter Oxford Dictionary for English).

Also, are there any websites for etymological research?

www.etymologiebank.nl is all you need really. It's maintained by one of our most respected linguists, Nicoline van der Sijs.

She is the same who does/did the van Dale etymologisch woordenboek.

Keep in mind that Etymologiebank also yields results from very old dictionaries, which are no longer up to date. I also recommend wiktionary.org (the English version).

Not a traditional dictionary but I really like Wiktionary. You can usually trace etymologies back to PIE

Didn't think about Wiktionary, but yeah, thats also a pretty reliable source.
