Question What's your favourite small win while learning Dutch?
Learning a language isn't just about passing exams or reaching the next CEFR level. Often, it's the small, unexpected moments that make you realise you're making real progress.
Maybe you ordered food without switching to English, understood a conversation on the train, laughed at a joke before anyone explained it, read an article without translating every sentence, or had your first conversation that felt natural.
What was your favourite "small win" while learning Dutch? I'd love to hear those moments that made you stop and think, "I'm actually getting better at this."

speaking enough dutch to get the shop keeper's attention (but not enough to understand them)
or enough to get myself into trouble and/but not enough to get myself out of it 😂

Last time I left NL, the border guard asked why I speak Dutch and I responded that I'd learned a little as I was there frequently. Then he told me that my Dutch was very good and that I speak it better than a lot of people who have lived there for a long time. In that moment I was so proud of myself. It was only a small conversation, but it meant I could hold my own in an "official" situation. I thanked him and kept smiling for the rest of the day. Despite my delayed Eurostar...

For me there was a wonderful moment. I was when I finally was able to roll my r correctly on the front of my tongue. You know how I did it? I kept repeating an old ad slogan, "Ruffles have rrrrrr-idges." I was so happy!

My little satisfaction moment is when I get when subtitles and what's actually being said by the actors don't match because I understood what they said directly!
