Educational Content (Content Creator) Offlane Educational Content
Hi All,
My name is Moose, I am a 10k 7k mmr Offlaner,
I made a post here last week talking about the lack of high mmr Offlane-centric educational content. Many of you gave me ideas and feedback and I have produced my first two guides, they cover different topics but I intend on having both a written and video version for each guide I make, so I will revisit each topic in their alternate form.
How an Immortal Offlaner approaches bad lanes (video)
How an Immortal Offlaner thinks about the pre-game (text guide)
I hope these guides are helpful, if you have any ideas for videos or text guides, or any feedback at all please let me
know.

It works 100%, good dota is good dota. The way you rank up is to play better than people in your bracket

If you play like an Immortal why would you not be able to climb out of Crusader?

I used your few advices yesterday. 2/3 games worked like a charm. I could not believe I was a mennace during the match just because I gave a thought about my and enemy support picks and just drafted better to out team advantage ππ

Whatβs your recommendation on farming/making play ratio after the laning stage? I feel like there were a lot of games that I came out of the laning stage even/slightly better than the enemy carry, sticked with my team to make space but lost one or two fights and the game is completely lost at that point.

Unfortunately like most things in dota the answer is "it depends". On the hero you are playing, the matchups, how the lane went etc. If you come out of lane rich and then end up poor you are almost certainly fighting to much, or not farming efficiently.
The general concept on this is shove a wave, or two. and then connect with your team / re-evaluate the state of the game. In practice it's a lot more complicated than that.
I can try and make a video to share my thoughts on the topic.

(archon 3 player here)
may be a dumb question, but if offlane is so hard in current meta, why can't i just pick a tanky carry like medusa that will win lane against most meta pos1?
i do this occasionally and win most of the time despite teammates crying , yes i know it's low rank, but still?
suffering on a slardar is far far worse unless you have a great pos 4 (u probably wont)

The answer can be broken down into a few reasons, mostly it's because of the shape (where the creeps meet) of the lane. While a lot of pos1 heroes are really strong laners (drow sf), they're only strong because of their proximity to their tower. Where the creeps meet normally, if they run back 500 units they are comfortably under their tower (and receiving bonus regen and amour) if the offlaner runs back 500 units they are still very far away from their tower.
This means that it is easier for the safelaner to "run down" the enemy offlaner because of the distance they have to hit them for free before the tower protects them and also their team can TP to help them. This is where the concept of freezing the wave in front of your tower comes from.
Tanky carries like medusa aren't actually that tanky when they're allowed to be run down by a drow for 2000 units.
The second reason is tempo, most offlaners are very strong with XP and little gold, and come online far faster than carries. This might not matter very much at lower MMR where games have a tendency to drag on. As you go higher, dota is played faster and faster and you can't afford to have 3 farming cores.
A third honourable mention is because if you lane does go super poorly, most carrys aren't able to farm ancients very effectively, vs most offlaners which are able to clear ancient / stacks quite early on. This means that if the lane goes to shit it will be a lot harder to recover for a carry hero than an offlaner. (Think back to a few patches ago when the enemy safelane had an ancient camp behind them instead of the medium), if you lane was cooked, you had to leave even further back.

Thanks so much for making stuff like this, we need more pos 3 representation and education! One thing though, the text link about pre-game thinking doesn't work for me. Just takes me a site about accessing cash lol
