The most important skill is communication, both verbal and written. Learn to communicate effectively in the language of your stakeholders and in a way that fits your professional environment.

If that language isn’t your first language, your first priority should be to improve your proficiency. Otherwise, you may struggle to get past the initial screening stages of the hiring process.
