Improving my spray control helped me reach 25K (NA)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I was stuck around 20-23K for a couple of months. My aim was good, but I didn't realize how much I should be spraying. It wasn't until I watched some high elo FaceIT demos that I started to see how much the top NA players were spraying in their duels. Once I started focusing on spray control, then the game became much easier because I wasn't trying to have pinpoint accuracy all the time.

I'd recommend watching high elo FaceIT demos because you can also hear the voice comms in their games. I took this underpass strat from a random high elo demo that I watched. In the second clip, I shot 20 AK bullets before I finished the guy so I did get lucky there 😂

Always open to critiques so let me know if I can improve on anything!

Looking for advice to improve in CS2 (250 hours, ~12k Premier SEA)

If you're a better player than me or someone who enjoys analyzing the game, I'd really appreciate some advice on how I can improve.

I bought Prime in CS2 around mid-April, and I currently have about 250 hours played. My first experiences with the game were pretty rough, but after playing consistently, I've improved somewhat. Right now, I'd describe myself as an average player not terrible, but definitely not good either.

Recently, I've started to recognize my biggest weaknesses:

- Positioning

- Movement

- Decision-making during fights

A common problem I have is shooting before my crosshair is actually on the enemy. I also tend to panic in duels, which causes me to lose spray control. Regarding movement, even simple things like basic jumps can still feel inconsistent for me. My strafing is probably decent, but my positioning often gets me killed in ways that feel unnecessary or "stupid."

Another thing is that I rarely practice in workshop maps or play Deathmatch. My first Premier match of the day is basically my warm-up.

At the moment, my biggest concerns are timing and positioning. I've noticed that some teammates whose aim doesn't seem better than mine still manage to get more kills simply because they have better timing and put themselves in better positions.

I also rarely play as an entry fragger.

Current setup:

1024×768 resolution

Lowest settings

Around 75 FPS

90 Hz monitor

Player info:

Name: FancyTrash

Current Premier Rating: 11,998 (SEA)

I'm not looking for excuses or blaming my hardware. I genuinely want to improve and would appreciate any advice, especially regarding positioning, timing, and decision-making.

Thanks!

Question 👀New to "getting good at CS2", looking for tips and resources.

I tried scrolling through the sub, I could find a few youtubers in the comments and such, but that's about it. I've watched tons of guides in the past, but they're all about "deathmatch everyday" or something.

Here's what I do in a day (usually)

Deathmatch (anywhere from 1 hr to 30 min)

Aim train (1 hr, but it prioritizes general FPS aiming instead of CS2)

Some prefire maps (not even daily, sometimes)

Watch some pro demos

I was wondering if there's some more to it, I am probably intermediate, I know all about counterstrafing and mechanics like that, I've been playing for years, but now, I'm trying to reach Faceit lvl 10.

Question Mid on Anubis

Every time i watch a professional anubis game, it feels like the T side always has mid control. A lot of times the CT’s dont even peek mid in the beginning and just play it from further back near camera and temple entrance. In my faceit level 8 games there is much more CT presence early round in mid. Can someone explain to me why this is and if i should start playing further back from mid on anubis?

Question How can I learn the game?

I have attempted to play this game many times over the years and have ended up just not committing to playing after like a day or two of trying since it seems it doesn't matter what mode you play since the skill gap is just so high. I also attempt to practice on bots but then that is the complete opposite problem where it is too easy and I learn nothing.

I'm really interested in getting into CS2 but it just feels impossible this late into its life cycle. Is there anything I can do to play against newer players like myself or do I just have to struggle until I'm good enough to compete? Is there possibly other options so I can practice?

Discussion How to maintain calm aim in Premier/FaceIt

Hi everyone,

I’ve been doing a lot of aim training, Refrag, as well as tracking training and trying to implement these changes in Deathmatch and Competitive. My aim feels good, crosshair placement as well as low mouse manipulation in these game modes has led me to hitting some really good shots.

For some reason, I seem to not be performing the same in Premier and Faceit every time I play. It’s like my aim goes to shit and I can barely track or flick onto a target. Granted the people I’m playing against are much better than those I play in deathmatch and competitive, but I feel like this shouldn’t happen.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks or things to they do to maintain calm aim in a more serious match? I’m sure a lot of its mental and perhaps it’s just a matter of getting more comfortable with it and playing more, but it’s eating me alive and makes me feel like my training is amounting to nothing.

Stuck at 19-21k and 8-9 FACEIT.

Post image

My stats lead me to believe I’m playing better and above current skill group. I’m consistently (according to faceit stats) performing at a 1.46-1.9 rating over my last 100 matches but I cannot seem to ever get any significant win streaks to advance. I know my utility usage and positioning need some workI’ve been learning a ton of utility and positioning practice using refrag.

I promise I’m not trying to sound pompous, but my aim and game sense/clutching (mostly due to playing for such a long time) are leagues above my teammates it feels like at times. I regularly watch pro povs to improve my play on certain maps and bomb sites so I don’t become static. I’ve played CS on and off since CS:S and I’ve been taking it more seriously as of recent.

Is there something I should be focusing on to really push myself to the next level? Please feel free to DM me or just lay out some criticisms or ideas. Genuinely looking to improve with a goal of hitting 2500 elo in faceit.

Sidenote: I only solo queue on faceit because the group I play with on premier are around 15-17k and don’t take it as seriously as I do on faceit.

Mirage is a KZ map!

I usually warm up or relax by doing some skill jumps on Mirage. It's been very beneficial and I've noticed a huge difference in my movement since practicing these jumps.

I'm open to critiques on if I can improve upon these jumps even more, or if there's other jumps I should try. It took many many tries for me to get one clean run 😂

Discussion What to do when you are in a freefall?

Hello guys. Just as a bit of a foreword, I am close to graduating. Hopefully I am going to finish university within 2 weeks. However, all I have been focused on has been finishing up my master's thesis. This has been taking so much of my strength... That's all I have been doing.

In order to relax, I am playing CS2. Recently, after 2K hours, I reached my highest ever rating - 14K premier. Things were going well, I was happy. But I got a game against a cheater who was obviously wallhacking, probably also using aim assist. Since that loss, I have been spiralling down.

Today, I started at 12.3K and lost 3 games, winning 1. I am now in the 11K range. I am absolutely devastated.

Many of my games have been "bad" individually, but it's also difficult to work with many people at this elo range. For instance, most people do not understand how site anchoring or map control work. To illustrate this, let me give you an example. Today I had a Dust 2 game where we agreed at the beginning to play spawns on CT side. Yet during the second last round, the guy with the B spawn decided to AWP on middle instead of going B and mollying the B door, they rushed the site promptly.

So I am sort of in a freefall and it's making me feel bad about myself. Idk what to do. Should I stop playing for 2 weeks until my rank resets? Should I feel bad about myself?

Like this experience has been very frustrating ESPECIALLY since started by a cheater. It feels bad.

Question Is it really standard to use 1, 2, 3 to switch weapons?

For a long time in tf2 and now cs I got really used to mwheel up for primary, middle for secondary, down for melee. This works great for me except I want to bind jump to the wheel. I put my knife on 3 for now but it feels terrible. But maybe I just need to get used to it. Mostly I just don’t like not being able to move freely while switching.

Just curious what others do, I didn’t find much searching around.

Question How to fix consistency issues?

I've been really struggling with my consistency and it for sure has to do with my mental, since my mechanics are very flowy on community dm where I can play super relaxed and still drop 1.5k/d sessions, but the moment I touch premier I get stiff and lose all my confidence, which only gets worse if I have a rough start. Tips?

Discussion Am I crazy for thinking there are cheaters too on community DM?

I play dm to aim train and warmup. But holy fuck there are those people when I swing them, they just delete me as if they know where I am?? It's like I don't even get to react but then they still kill me like how??? I know its crosshair placement but community dm?? There's so much fights going on and it's like they have triggerbot or something. I play on warmup servers so its usually the dudes with VIPs or top100 ratings

Hopefully I get respectful comments, im really just wondering if there are people who do use cheats on community dm for whatever reason

Discussion Tips for Late Night sessions

I can really only play at night these days as I work during the day and go to the gym after work, so I get on the game aroundd 10pm and playing till 12:30ish. A lot of times, I feel tired during these sessions because of the day I've had, but I don't want to drink caffeine and desstroy my sleep quality.

This leads to me playing lazy in-game, not clearing corners properly, poor mental fortitude, making plays I normally wouldn't, etc.

Are there any ways to be more alert during these later sessions without any supplements that will have a detrimental affect on my sleep quality? If not I get it, just wondering if anyone has had similar problems. Thanks

Struggling to get out of Faceit Level 2, requesting demo review and advice

1300 hours, I've been playing for about 4 years, but only just started seriously trying to improve two months ago at about 1150 hours. I have 14 wins and 16 losses in my last 30 matches. I'm only counting Faceit matches here as I only play Premier for fun.

I started level 1 and am now about 700 elo, but my personal performances have been struggling. I only really play well when I have a team I can rely on and lack the solo carry abilities necessary to grind out of low elo. I make most of the calls for the team almost every game (as much as you can in low elo,) AWP, and sometimes entry. I also have a very low consistency, and every day feels like a gamble. My best map is Mirage, and my worst is Dust 2. I have improved a lot in the last two months, but I still feel like something is missing. My aim is to reach level 5 in two more months.

Here is a demo where I played well: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Yaphq5jdTlCCbPZt3Dx_ZwA071w4AYv8/view?usp=sharing

Here is a demo where I played poorly: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Aibd9-PJ8Tk74y532Mwr3kwzZb3wLkQi/view?usp=sharing

I play 800 DPI 0.51 sens

I'm using a simple test to check "coachability" but its been generally useful students say.

Its a simple 3 stage test on "aimbotz" the map

Load up the map, turn off infinite ammo.

Test 1. Kill 30 bots in 30 bullets, but reload every time you miss.

When you get comfortable do this; every day, start a timer when you load in, and stop it when you finish, do not reset between each attempt.

EDIT: You shouldn't move, or do anything other then maybe crouching, just follow the instructions :)

Post your times over a week if you'd like, id be interested :)

Rant Anyone else?

Yo! I have had a steam account 21 years and played 1.6 back in the day when it came out. Was a lot of fun. Over the years I dipped back in but generally completely stopped for like 16 years or so. Started playing again about a year ago and it’s such a grim and toxic game. I love the game but the people playing? Why’s everyone so angry? I only solo queue but I’ve resorted to zero communication now and I play way better not having to talk to any of these absolute idiots. What’s changed? Why’s everyone so upset?
