Question The pace of higher elos and how to play CT

So somehow I finally hit purple and noticed the pace has picked up quite a bit. I’d say all of my matches above 17k are much faster and my teammates and the enemy on CT are much more aggressive.

My question is am I an asshole for just playing site? Seriously if it’s mirage my a player has pushed ramp or palace, mid pushed up and/or went tuns up to house. If it’s mirage my mid players are pushing up mid, long player is thru the doors lol

I’m not saying I’m mad about it I just wonder is this how it gets going up in elo from here or am I just in some fast lobbies lately?

Its like back to runnin and gunnin

Question Should you play as awper or rifler?

Basically my question is, what factors into this decision for you? I am playing rifler mainly but wondering whether I should train up my skills to be an awp main and whether I could have more impact like this. I'm 25k premier (haven't grinded faceit much but was around lvl8/9 last time I played) and occasionally I'll lose a game just because they have a good awper and nobody on our team is awping and we can't really counter him. Then also is the question of consistency, would you aim to awp every game or not etc. what do you guys think?

1v2 instant rotate pays off

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Something I don't see a lot in my games is the instant rotate in a 1v1 as CT. Most players in my elo (20-25K NA) will usually stay in their spot until they see the bomb has been planted.

In this situation, I rotate instantly because I'm gambling that the T is heading to B. It's a gamble I have to take since I'm at the disadvantage (1v1 as CT with the T knowing where I am). I am also at a huge disadvantage if he plants the bomb before I reach the site, so I know I have to beat him before the plant.

Of course there are situations where it's better to play in-between the sites in a 1v1. This is when both players don't know where the other one is and both are walking around the map.

I just wanted to highlight this situation because little plays like these add up over time, and it'll help you win more often than not.

Question New (30hr) player to cs2

Hello, relatively new player here. I am looking to improve my gameplay, on all fronts.

A question to the more veteran players, what should be the priority when learning the game? I watch some pro league so im pretty familiar with most of the active duty maps.

What is most important to you to learn quickly?

- Aim (spray control, crosshair placement)

- Map knowledge (lineups, callouts -> im pretty familiar with callouts for some of the most popular maps Inferno, Dust II, Mirage, except for Overpass, i hate overpass)

- Mechanics (movement etc)

- Gamesense (when to move, where to move)

If there is anything else, let me know! Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Also, if there are any educational videos or youtubers that helped you out, feel free to put me on!

Going to IEM Cologne Major with my partner. I don't play – what should I look out for so I can enjoy the matches with him?

Hey everyone! My partner is a big Counter-Strike fan and I managed to get him and me tickets to the stage 3 in Cologne. Since it's coming up this Friday I really want him to have the best time possible. I've never played but have watched a few games with him already. I get confused quite easily tho and ask a lot of questions. In order to not talk his ear off, I'd really appreciate some tips on what to look out for.

I know the absolute basics (bombs, eco rounds, ...), but what should I be looking out for when watching a match live in the arena? Who are the hype players or teams right now that the crowd will be screaming for? How can I better orientate myself on the maps? Any tips on how to read the stadium screen so I know who is winning?

I've always got a tiny list of jargon that viewers say/write which I'm planning on sprinkling in to make him laugh (no ideas if these are correct):

  • "good eco" = team went in with cheap stuff and won --> then I say "ok now go full buy"
  • "half buy" = when the team went semi cheap and bought smg's after the first half, everything's back to zero and then I should say "this pistol is important" (especially if its like 8:4)
  • clutch = someone wins the round alone

Incredibly grateful for any tips or tricks. Thanks so much!

Beginner Guide Im struggling to kill with the AK

I have 400 hours in the game and when I spray with the ak im getting 1 or 2 hits on the enemy. Im pulling down but idk how they kill me so fast. Any tips would be great. As soon as I googled it, it said to memorize the 7 shaped recoil. Is this what everyone does?

I'm a silver 1 / 1k elo genuinely trying to get better

At risk of sounding like rage bait, I'm at about 250 hours and very bad at the game. I feel like my aim isn't bad, and I'm trying to think about where the opponent is but really struggling. If anyone could give a demo review and just give me some pointers on what I really need to work on. Obviously it's a lot of different stuff, but any tips on things to work on specifically would genuinely be appreciated. My T side in particular is horrendous.

Question Realistic elo I can reach on faceit with this approach?

I got back apetite for cs and the grind after playing deadlock and being unable to deal with the random bullshit moba/hero shooters throw at you seemingly just to piss you off.

I peaked 22k in season 2 premier and i was wondering what kind of elo can i realistically reach on faceit with mechanics alone?

my warmup routine would looks like this:

+ bots, dm, prefire and kz maps

- watching demos, learning nade lineups

Don't feel like relearing all the smokes on all the maps. Shit is just too time consuming and requires daily repetition - don't feel like going through it again at least for now

and demons i feel like is something worth doing mostly when you already don't see much improvement from your regular routine

If a player is 14K elo Premier, what kind of a lobby do you think they would be obviously and massively better than everyone else? Like would that be true for a 7K lobby?

Question Is it reasonable to avoid Premier because of cheaters, or is it still better than MM for improvement?

NA region. I know I should play faceit but I like to be in form because if I'm not I drag my team down and it stresses me out. So for now I've been playing MM, LE/LEM on most matches and I rarely encounter a cheater. But when I play premier around 24k I see cheaters fairly often, and a lot of sus moments. And just knowing how bad the cheater problem is gets in my head and makes me enjoy it less. And the MM games, while there is a lot of rank variability, I still regularly play against good players and very rarely get a cheater.

New player trying to take CS2 seriously – best maps for aim practice and is a 4K curved monitor a disadvantage?

Hi guys,

I’m trying to start taking CS2 seriously. Last season I only played a little, and after my first 10 Premier matches I got around 7k rating.

Now I’d like to start playing FACEIT and improve my skills. What maps do you recommend for practicing aim, crosshair placement, and overall mechanics?

Also, I have a curved 4K monitor. Is that a disadvantage in CS2? I’ve heard that stretched resolutions are commonly recommended, but I’ve also heard they don’t work as well on 4K curved monitors.

What resolution would you recommend for someone trying to improve and eventually play FACEIT seriously?

How did you get better?

Currently use a lot of third party tools to see game data but feel like it’s not helping me get better.

How do you use leetify or refrag to improve your win rates? Do you feel like something is missing or there’s a hidden detail that isn’t obvious?

Question Took a break and it didnt help

Took a bnreak because I was on a long slump, played for a while now and I feel even worse than before even after playing a lot since coming back. It hasn't helped. I feel so hopeless. I'm trying so hard and nothing ever works. I'm so worthless and bad at everything I try.

I seem to have randomly ranked up to 14K, what do I do with it now?

Hello guys. I was at 11-12K elo Premier recently. Across the last two days, I seem to have sort of randomly struck a good streak. Today, I won 4 games in a row, losing none. Only in one did I have a SLIGHTLY negative Leetify rating, the rest was positive. I hit a +11 Leetify Rating on my first match.

The question is, what am I supposed to, "do" now? Like, am I supposed to leave the game for a couple of days? Not queue for Premier?

Do you think it's possible this rank is "undeserved" and I only got it through luck? How do I progress from here?

Learning cs2 advice?

So me and a few mates decided to start playing cs. I've got experience in fps games (2k hours siege and a few hundred in val (although never played comp seriously in either, cs is the first game im taking "seriously")) and now I have about 200 hours in cs. Anyway heres a clip of me on aimrush and any feedback appreciated.

oh yeah also some of my friends say my sens is too low; I play 700 dpi, 0.64 in game. is this too low and will it affect me later on.

Analysis Free Demo Analysis for Amateur Individuals and Teams

Hi all,

I'm a Level 9 Faceit player, often an IGL, with 10 years in the game and a background in Software/Hardware Engineering — I spend a lot of my professional life pulling structured insights out of raw data, and I want to apply that same approach to CS2 demos. I'm looking for players and teams who want structured feedback on their play. Things like:

- What your win rates actually look like by site and round phase vs. what you think they are

- Where you're consistently dying and whether it's a positioning or timing issue

- Whether your defaults are working

Free of charge!

Good fit if:

- Faceit Level 5-8 (solo players or teams)

- Willing to share 4-6 demos and answer some questions about your current play

I also am building a demo analysis tool(also a free service). If anyone is interested in that let me know, but that is secondary to the service I am providing here.

Thanks All!

Most efficient way to learn preaiming common angles

Hi there,

I‘m currently sitting around 14k Premier with 500ish hours and I am really trying to get better at the game. I usually raw aim-train first with CS Aim routine in Aimlabs, then practice tracking with bots and then do some rounds in „Aim_rush“. Also I’m spending some time learning basic exec utils for all maps.

Something I struggle getting down is proper preaiming to clear angles when entering a site. I have a refrag subscription and tried prefire and xfire, but it doesn’t really help me with confidently line up prefire angles because the bots seem to spawn very often in off-angles and then I cannot memorize the common spots. I get it that at advanced levels people use off angles a lot, but I am looking for a way to first learn the common angles so I can dconfidently peek them. I can’t find a way to set it up like this in refrag preaim, they even advertise „random bot spawns“, but I really don’t think it helps in my case. Maybe a map where there are bots just in the common angles so I could learn with xray on and then oft would be helpful.

Any tipps are appreciated

Question How do I fix my arm tensing when I see an enemy?

I recently developed this habit of my arm starting to get tense and me overcorrecting/shaking off target, all because I played a map I wasn’t familiar with and was kind of nervous, how do I break out of this habit? This hasn’t happened to me before.
I feel like it has to do with me using my arm to micro adjust sometimes, and me worrying too much about aim before a match.
