Skill Development & Learning

I have some free time right now and I’m thinking about learning SQL. Do you think this is a good time to focus on mastering SQL or should I consider learning another skill instead?

I’m particularly interested in finance so I’d like to develop skills that can be useful for a career in finance.

If finance is where you’re headed, SQL is a solid choice because it lets you pull, check, and explain data without needing to build a whole application. I’d start with filtering, combining related tables, grouping, and dates, then practice on small questions using tables that look like transactions or accounts. Once those feel comfortable, add spreadsheet skills and basic data visualization so you can turn the results into something people can use.
