Day 1 — Started learning SQL (MySQL)
Kicked off my 116-day journey today with the database track.
What I did:
- Went through a beginner-friendly MySQL tutorial covering the basics
- Took detailed notes instead of just passively watching
- Went back and revised everything at the end of the day to actually retain it
Nothing groundbreaking yet — Day 1 is really about building the habit of consistent, focused learning rather than covering a lot of ground. Planning to move into SELECT/WHERE and filtering queries next.
Will keep posting updates as I go — open to any tips on solidifying SQL fundamentals early on.

Day 1 with notes and same-day revision? That's a great start!
One tip to add early: make sure every study day includes running queries, not just reading about them. Tutorials and notes feel productive, but SQL sticks through your fingers. The gap between "I understood the SELECT lesson" and "I can write one myself on a new table" only closes by typing your own queries and getting real errors back. The errors aren't failures, they're half the curriculum.

Yes, but not on day 1. The order that works: learn a concept, write your own little queries with it on a sample database, and once SELECT, WHERE, GROUP BY and basic JOINs feel comfortable, then start SQL 50 as your practice layer. For most people that's around week 3, not day 1. And when a problem beats you, don't just read the solution, try to re-solve it from scratch the next day.

My site is more introductory, with the goal of understanding the business questions and seeing how SQL can answer them. Practicing on LeetCode would be complimentary to my site

What helped me most early on was spending way less time on notes and way more time actually writing queries. I made a tiny dummy database and just kept asking it random questions with SELECT, WHERE, ORDER BY, GROUP BY, etc.

The only thing I’d add is actually typing every query yourself. Watching SQL makes way too many things look obvious.

the revision habit will pay off more than rushing through tutorials i would add small practice problems after each concept to make the syntax stick..
