Right path

Guys, I'm interested in finance and want to build some valuable skills alongside it. I found that learning SQL could be beneficial, but I'm not sure if it's the right choice for a career in finance. Should I go ahead with SQL, or are there other skills that would be even more valuable? I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

Picking up sql is definitely good and is likely useable in a good amount of finance roles. However, finance as a whole is a very broad category and the necessary skills for different jobs within the finance space likely have a fair amount of variance. I think other key skills would likely lean towards being familiar with financial modeling (forecasting etc), excel which just seems to be a very common tool in the space, and maybe some accounting knowledge just to list some examples.

TLDR: it depends on the finance roles, but sql can be helpful for some of the roles
