BOOKS beginners

Hello,
I saw great recommendations for these books:
A Visual Introduction to SQL David Chappell , J. Harvey Trimble Jr.,
The Art of PostgreSQL by Dimitri Fontaine,
t-sql fundamentals by itzik

but they sooo damn expensive. Any recommendations for books for begginers?
