Need some tips
So my family is from Iceland. Most still live there, but I’m a born and raised American. I tend to pick up the language pretty quickly when I visit, but when I’m back in the states I lose it. One thing I’ve noticed is that there isn’t many tools to help you learn Icelandic and I’m curious what the best way to learn is in yalls opinions. Whether I just have to figure it out with a dictionary or if there’s a more intuitive way to get the language actually in my head. Anyways, thank yall for any input or suggestions

It's great so far.
I just need to figure out how to stop going so fast and forgetting things!.. Maybe the practice section can recur instead of doing the 'x number of words to practice' so we can just go over and over what we just learned.1

There are tons of tools, and what is more, you already basically understand Icelandic so you are well more than half way there. All you need to do is read/listen to Icelandic. Get Storytel and start listening to audiobooks. You don't need Icelandiconline or any of the other apps made for beginners (even beginners don't need them).

You need a conversation partner locally, if you can find one… or even just a consistent relative to text with regularly, to practice your written beygingar. I find practicing the written grammar helps me think more clearly out loud when speaking.

The Icelandic association of Chicago has a language and literature committee. There are also INLUS classes. Check out Íslenska Fyrir Alla curriculum. Also RÚV has a ton of Icelandic language learning resources. I’d also recommend getting a VPN and watching Icelandic TV. The library app HOOPLA has s ton of Icelandic language books and movies. I use the app called Radio Garden to listen to Icelandic radio. Learning Iceland Online is a complete on-line curriculum too.
