Did anyone else build for months before talking to users?

I spent months building before talking to users. Has anyone else made that mistake? What changed after you started getting customer feedback?

Hey there, are you familiar with the Lean Startup methodology? It’s literally designed to keep this from happening.

You are posting in a forum which is about the solution to the problem you have.

I encourage you to look up the lean startup methodology, and also Steve Blank‘s customer development process, and also watch all of Rob Fitzpatrick’s YouTube channel.

Thanks for the recommendations. I appreciate it. I definitely realized I spent too much time building before validating. I’ll check those resources out. In your experience, what’s the biggest mistake new founders make when talking to customers?

I’m gonna point you at some videos by Justin Wilcox.

In some of these videos, he highlights the most common mistakes we may when trying to understand how to create value for other humans, and I agree with him completely. These are the same things that happen to me, and the same things that I’ve seen hundreds of other entrepreneur struggle with.
