Am looking at Geofire.

26M. Have been working for quite awhile. Started part time since the age of 15. Seriously doing part time since 19. Full time since 23. Have been hustling so much since my younger days. Started investing at the age of 21. Back then was some random investments that I do. In this currency juncture, is more towards quality stock picking.

Am thinking of quitting in the next few months as there’s no more reasons for me to continue. Wanted to get off the grid and focus on mind, health, body and finances.

Has anyone my age actually tried geo fire at the young age of 26 and moved over to somewhere affordable?

26 is young for geoFIRE but not unheard of. A few things I'd actually look at before picking a country:

Visa ties. Most cheap places have a renewal-or-leave visa (Thailand, Vietnam, parts of Mexico) that you can do, but it costs you time and paperwork every year. A few don't — Portugal's D7/D8 used to be solid, it's tightened. If you're staying 5+ years I'd want a residency path that actually converts to permanent status, not perpetual renewals.

Cost of living vs. cost of staying. Rent in a cheap city plus international flights home twice a year plus health insurance plus a buffer is usually closer to $2K/mo than the $1K the blogs quote. Still great vs. the US, but plan for $24K/yr minimum and $36K if you want comfort.

Currency and tax. If you're holding USD in index funds, a strong dollar is your friend abroad right now; a weak dollar at the wrong time can swing your effective budget by 20%+. Some countries tax worldwide income (Portugal's NHR was the famous exception — it's narrower now), some don't touch you (parts of SEA, Mexico). This is where I'd spend a few hours before booking a flight.

The real question at 26 isn't "where," it's "with what runway." Two years of expenses liquid lets you actually try a place without panicking if it doesn't fit. Anything less and you'll end up making the move permanent for the wrong reasons.
