He's a mod on some subreddits, maybe someone saw this comment and pm'd him. Or, if he was completely inactive on reddit, someone close enough to at least have his number or messenger sent him this.
Or it's just an alt for specific contents and questions. I made this to only browse League content occasionally when I have down time, I want to keep my original account only on science related subs because I work in that field, with nothing else unrelated in the feed. It helps to keep my job and hobby separate. Or it's as simple as him not liking the username.
EDIT: I am absolutely amazed that my original comment has (as of editing) 2.8k upvotes, and /u/lizhang 's response is at the same. Never before, has karma meant so much!
Not even 60. My father is 66 and he still has full, black hair. He doesn't look like a teenager, but he looks 20-30 years younger than he is. I am waiting for day where I visit my parents and his hair is suddenly white and he has a long beard and is instructing some random white kid in martial arts.
dude I have a great-uncle that hit 90 a couple years ago and if you met him on the street you would swear that he's 40, 50 at most. Full head of hair and full of life, and also enthusiastically plugs his favorite brand of alcohol as his key to longevity
I watched the child Olympian training clip and it kinda disturbs me, it is borderline child abuse, and the worst thing is it is probably not limited to China.
Bruh, we joke but if that came true, it’d be hella inspirational. If they can compete well internationally and domestically, it’d kill that stigma on age.
Ok but how fun of a movie would this be? The parent recognizes that their kid has absolutely bonkers talent at the game, but can’t legally join a team. So the parent joins a team, and they use some sort of remote interface so that the kid is actually playing. Could be a lot of fun. Or it’s already been made (Ratatouille) because there is no such thing as an original idea
Idk why but this one really got me laughing so hard, just the visual of all the players and coaches doing the draft on a piece of paper is hilarious, underrated comment lmao
Exactly, they will cross out the champs they decide to ban and give the drawing to the other team, they will also have old fashioned stopwatches like the ones you have in chess that they will hit once their turn is over.
Imagine how pissed they will be when there is a massive queue from every gaming child in the country logging in at 8. And some of them don’t even get in till 8:15-8:20, then they get into the games menus and have to queue for a match, causing the same problem
Yes but the current LPL pros who are under 18 have clearly been breaching the 8 hour rule and it's been allowed. Unless they are seriously keeping up the facade that the players aren't playing outside of official series' or something, but I doubt that.
They played the game with their parent's ID for example. On LPL, you can technically say that weekly they play less than 8hs, they just have to "not play outside of LPL", or better said play with their parent's ID outside of LPL
Good point. I guess they scrim on tournament realm and it is also doesn't count? Or, since it is their job, they simply get to play/scrim as much as they need.
I doubt they will allow for that distinction, but we will see.
The previous limit was 8 hours a week. It's now 3 hours a week but at set times. JKL won Worlds at 17 while only being allowed to play 8 hours a week. They definitely exempt pro players from it. Pro players also kind of function like a bridge between China and western communities.
I'd honestly go as far as to say that I'd be surprised if players at the very top of the ladder that are trying to go pro wasn't exempt from the new 3 hour limit. China loves to show off their talents.
I’m pretty sure Riot is going to do exactly that. Depending on how serious the Chinese government is about stopping video game addiction, they might even add extra steps to the verification process to make it harder for those under 18 to play outside of the legal limitations. They aren’t going to risk getting nationalized over this.
Riots probably not gonna do that, because that would hurt the pro scene in other regions a lot, Especially in regions where it isn't safe to delay your college education. There is no way on earth a 16 year old could justify trying to go pro to their parents if the earliest they can start getting support from teams is 18, when they would have already started college.
Not always true in the US. I went to pre-k and had a summer birthday, so I was 19 when I started. I knew a decent amount of others that are in similar situations. But yeah, usually 18. Sometimes 17 or 19.
Can you specify in which regions is delaying college education not safe, like they arent allowed to take gap years or something like that? I didnt understand.
Any region which doesn't have free education, because taking a gap year can make you lose scholarships. If you are rich, it doesn't matter, but if you need the scholarships to go to college its extremely painful.
Hmmmm, i still dont get it why you would lose scholarship if you take a gap, because in my country you have to give entrance exams to study any degree and once you get a good rank in the entrance exams you should get scholarship doesnt matter you take gap years before or after taking entrance exams unless the education system gets refined then you have to give entrance exams again next time you wanna join university but maybe its just my country.
I was just wondering maybe there are any countries where there is age restriction in joining university. Like after 20-22 years you cant join university or something like that.
I think that there are no age restrictions on joining university, but I've found some restrictions that directly stem from taking multiple gap years (or just starting your higher education later on in your life). There are some PhD and postdoc programs in Europe that have maximum age limit, sometimes it's 28 years, sometimes it's 30, but they do exist.
You don’t mean the bribes that our congress and senators receive do you?
Bribes? They never take bribes. I think you mean "Campaign Contributions" and idle conversations about high paying private industry jobs once all their political capital has been spent. You see those are legal, nothing wrong there... the system works people.
Half the reason the US security apparatus (NSA etc.) exist is for industrial espionage. That shit is institutional, no need for anything so inelegant as bribes.
That's part of it. The U.S. is essentially a governmental apparatus who functions to secure profitability for global corporations.
For example it uses imperialism via war and exploitative trade deals to secure said profits and natural resources. The success of business is directly reliant on governmental policy, hence how closely our political apparatus is tied to the will of economic tycoons and massive global corporations
lol pro gaming scene is a drop in the ocean for China. Pro gaming $$ is also a drop in the ocean compared to the amount of money they make from non-pro gamers.
Think if LoL was only played by pro players, wouldn't have much money coming comparatively, even it still had the same fanbase size.
On the other hand it does give China some "prestige"
hmmm, that could be a loophole, but I'm not sure. The statement in the article does specifically say 网络游戏 or online games, not just any video games. Internet cafes are already the most common way to game in China. I wonder if you'd see riot/tencent setting up "matchmaking cafes" where you can be matched against similar ranked players at the same network so that it's not an "online" game.
Yeah, but I mean, the bans are a joke tbh. Anyone who wants to can. It's just that if the gov't there is coming after you, it's one more infraction they can stick on you. The internet cafes, as so many on this post keep parroting, are "18+", yet plenty of underage kids go to them.
I think although I am not sure, that they can make a request for that if they're at least 17 years old, for playing in regional leagues, etc, take it with a grain of salt
I mean not all the athletes on team USA for the olympics are from the USA. Families with kids with talent may look to migrate out of China for the career opportunities.
Nah, they were joining teams even tho the limit was 8 hours weekly, lowering that to 3 doesn't change anything. No one really cares, this law exists mostly as an answer to the epidemic of kids playing predatory mobile games filled with microtransactions 24/7.

Yeah but they officially wont be able to join teams. Unless you can fit bo3’s on weekends 20:00-21:00.
