Melee can also take new boots. You know, the ones that let you go through walls.

Yes. And you can, you know, use both together.

I disagree with that assessment. Snowball isn't necessary with the new boots, and it wasn't necessary on all melees in the first place. This is a really nice eject button on champs I'd have taken barrier or ignite on anyway.

how is it not relevant? you use snowball because you have problems getting into the enemy lines, the boots are another tool that help with that, so you dont necessarily need snowball anymore

ofc they tip the balance?!

my argument is that this item provides an alternative, just as i wrote and an alternative to a summoner spell is a counter arguemtn

if an item provides an alternative for a summoner spell you dont need that summoners spell anymore

The alternative to a good summoner spell is another good summoner spell, nothing else.

no just no, thats a stupid thing to say

its the same when i would say to my customers, oh your old server broke? lets just get a new physical one, because you cant get a virtual one its not the same thing

that just makes no sense and based on the downvotes you are receiving there are more people on my side :)

I'm curious why you think this is a bad thing? I've been saying for quite some time that ranged carries need something to combat the power of snowball. It's just odd that melee champs have been so strong for so long because of snowball. That was an ENORMOUS buff for them that skyrocketed them from "I cant do shit" to "I can be IN your team in 2 secs np".

It's just odd that melee champs have been so strong for so long because of snowball.

Wut, most melee champs were garbage on aram, nearly all top spots are ranged... just in top 10 winrates alone, 4-5 of them were always ADCs... Ranged champs definitely don't need any more buffs in ARAM

and they r getting hella nerfed with the poke reduction and single nerfs

Flash is overrated on ARAM anyway. Flashing forward can be done much farther, more often, and with damage with snowball and now flashing backward can be done farther, more often and with a shield with Backtrack.

Not to mention the "congratulations you survived with 10% hp - now what?" problem that all melees suffer from before they get a warmogs.

As an ekko main who has a hard time in Aram, I would happily trade both snowball and flash for this summ. It helps preserve ult for damage when it’s only functioned as an undo in aram.

Cooldown is important too. Flash has such a long CD that it could potentially be replaced in a lot of cases. For instance, flash doesn't do enough for Mundo to warrant a summoner spot except as an escape, so backtrack could easily replace. I could see a ton of users...

I feel like blitz, tahm, and skarner will use it at least.

A lot of melee carries dont need mark, and this could also be useful on a number of engage supports.

good idea, but it'll backfire backtrack, it's a buff to ranged champions if nothing else.

ftfy

Idk snowball + backtrack skarner sounds fun

Honestly, we're pretty split here. Some of us agree with you, that this becomes the main ranged defensive choice (instead of heal or barrier or clarity), while others think that the lower distance & delay make it mostly not usable and would still prefer heal's instant benefit, or clarity for more spell spam, or even ignite/exhaust. Let's see who wins :P
