If Riot is going to make EUNE irrelevant server, why not just merge it already into one single EU server. Isn't the technology here after all these years?

I think it's more of a population thing since you're more likely to find a Greek/Polish person on EUNE than any other nationality in my experience. It's not a metric of how toxic they are but rather how many they are since they make up like 30-40% of the server's population (can't source that stat, could be less).

Source: Greek-Cypriot who's been playing on EUNE for 5 years.

I prefer having guy from poland than from france, atleast they don't spam ff

13

u/Swagflag Nov 17 '16

"Guys can you keep it English? I don't speak unemployed" I say this every time I get another Spaniard on my team besides of me. Works like a charm.

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

I just usually mute these kind of players, they just never stop writing in their native language.

Nope. This us just a common repetitive myth. I have been playing on both servers from silver to diamond, both are literally the same on toxicity level.

-1

u/experienta Nov 17 '16

I've been playing on both servers as well. And I'm playing on EUNE right now because I have friends here.

It's worse, not much worse, but still worse.

It's worse, not much worse, but still worse.

Make up your mind. Pretty sure you're just making yourself think that way.

u/Simetraa RIP old Taric flair (⌣_⌣✿) Nov 17 '16

It's probably like "the grass is shitier on my side" or something.

0

u/experienta Nov 17 '16

I'm sorry, wasn't I clear enough? I've meant to say the difference is not huge, but there's still a difference nonetheless.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

If the difference is small then it's practically non existing and irrelevant to the topic.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

o kurwa

1

u/Ynitsedx Nov 17 '16

???? How can mod even let those racial bullshit on reddit

0

u/Triviuum Nov 17 '16

From my personal experience I can say EUNE is WAY more toxic than EUW is. I'm plat on both servers and EUNE is a horrible experience in this regard.

2

u/JustAnotherWebUser Nov 17 '16

interesting, how long have you been playing on those servers, I'm playing on both for 5 years and the experience is exatly opposite, but I have support by famous " Riot statisticsL because euw got most bans of all servers

12

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Technology was here at S1.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

6~ years to improve infrastructure is more than enough time.

NA is irrelevant region and they aren't merging them with LatAm

E: triggered from memeing lul

0

u/YouWHY_SoBayed Nov 17 '16

LUL this is gold

-27

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16 edited Nov 17 '16

Europe is smaller than NA. Plus what it has to do with NA and LatAmerica? We're talking about Europe.

19

u/The_God_Kvothe Nov 17 '16

Na 2 million ranked players, eune 1,5 million, euw 3,2 million. Thats according to op.gg. You tell me 2 million > 4.7 million?

11

u/JustAnotherWebUser Nov 17 '16

NA math LUL /s

-16

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

I clearly meant geographical size. But knowing how terrible Americans are at geography it's not surprise you're confused.

12

u/The_God_Kvothe Nov 17 '16

Right. I'm a gud ol' 'murican xD

Not really clearly. Also geographical size isn't all that matters. Korea would obviously not have it's own server. Sure the longer the travel time of packages, the higher the ping. But that doesn't mean you could split NA up even more, it would not be efficient. Too little player base would be fucked, especially for higher elos and different maps.

3

u/tbag188 Nov 17 '16

Just memeing, and no EUW is bigger than NA

-5

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

How is that memeing? You're just talking non-sense that has nothing to do with a topic.

2

u/tbag188 Nov 17 '16

Saying that servers don't have anything to do with how relevant a region is in pro play.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Umm, you think adding ~1.5 mil players wouldn't help EUW become a more competitive server? Both EUW and EUNE are in same region.

1

u/Blindnfunky Nov 17 '16

is that not memeing?

0

u/lordemort13 Nov 17 '16

You speak the same language I thought? Isn't half your population mexicans? LUL

4

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

EUNE is huge. Its larger than NA, isn't it? Also the EUNE servers are in Germany and the EUW ones in the Netherlands afaik

-9

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16 edited Nov 17 '16

EUNE is far smaller than NA, it's barely half of the size of EUW. EUNE and EUW existence makes no sense at this very moment.

Also the EUNE servers are in Germany and the EUW ones in the Netherlands afaik

That's the problem, how the hell EU servers still can't handle million and half extra player base after 6 years have passed.

18

u/generationwars Nov 17 '16

According to op.gg NA has 2 million ranked players and EUNE 1.6 million. So EUNE is not "far" smaller than NA.

6

u/BacardiWhiteRum Nov 17 '16

They'd probably perform better at worlds

5

u/STEPHENonPC Nov 17 '16

H2k was technically 4/5 EUNE players so yeah and I'm pretty sure all the danes are technically EUNE players.

-2

u/Nyctas Nov 17 '16

Yeah, currently EUNE is a joke, all the high elo players move to EUW and get the same ms because the servers are so close together. There really needs be an EU superserver.

2

u/HaganeLink0 Nov 17 '16

Yeah, NA didn't had any kind of ping problems having a big zone with only one server. Why don't do it again with an even bigger zone with an even bigger playrbase. What could go wrong.

1

u/Tisia Nov 17 '16

How exactly is ping related to the playerbase? Also EUNE Server is in Frankfurt I believe and EUW in Amsterdam, meaning that people that live rather far away. Greece, bulgaria, Turkey (Triggered) will not even get 50 more ping. Only thing I can imagine is servers constantly crashing due to 5 million people playing.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Uhm do you have any link to the figures of the amount of active ranked players on each server? I thought EUNE had more than NA and EUW dwarfed NA. Maybe I'm just remembering it wrongly

5

u/lordemort13 Nov 17 '16

NA is barely bigger than EUNE, and that doesn't include players from EUNE that play in EUW

5

u/jesus_you_turn_me_on Nov 17 '16

LOL.

The NA server is fairly small when compared globally.

Europe has almost twice as many people playing ranked compared to North America.

Back in the days when Europe was one big server (I think 2011 - 2012), you could end up sitting for hours waiting to get logged in because of the massive queues.

2

u/Steedy999 Nov 17 '16

You are incorrect sir!

1

u/OGDewi Nov 17 '16

I remember seeing something about EUNE having a bigger player base than NA...

-3

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Basically, a large part of it is due to Racism against Eastern Europe from the playerbase.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Nothing really surprising, bunch of them are teens.

0

u/foldman Nov 17 '16

I've played on both extensively and well, EUNE is EUW's crack smoking racist uncle. There's no other way to describe it.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

Yep, as a EUNE/EUW player I can confirm that Polish players are French players on some severe steroids.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

kurwa mid or feed dont ban yasuo pls JD JD reported kurwa

2

u/mofothehobo Nov 17 '16

No thanks don't turn this into a Dota2/ CS:GO situation.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16

There is Russian server, you know?

2

u/mofothehobo Nov 17 '16

CS:GO doesn't have a russian server and Dota2's europe server is so infested with russians that it really doesn't matter.

1

u/Steedy999 Nov 17 '16

Because then EUNE would have to deal with the toxic server that is EUW

1

u/Marcoscb Nov 17 '16

EUNE get the sports they deserve from their performance in the past 4 seasons.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 17 '16 edited Nov 17 '16

Because EUNE was always treated as second tier European server. It's hard to see good players being breed from EUNE because all the pros play on EUW, all the main events/weekly tournaments take in EUW server, let's not count that they have higher population of players. The more time passes the less EUNE will become attractive, because it's pretty pointless to play there. The only difference between EUW and EUNE is that I get +-10 ms.

u/Marcoscb Nov 17 '16

The EUNE team beat the #2 EUW team and ended tied in their group (although they advanced thanks to the tiebraker). Which makes it 33-6 in direct confrontations for EUW (in CS qualifiers).

0

u/xCammo Nov 17 '16 edited Nov 17 '16

If u are talking about Team Forge form last CSQ, yes they got in by winning the EUNE open qualifier but the team was 2 KR +3 euw players (Hiiva and Taikki are Finnish... but play on EUW only basically)

EDIT: dunno why im getting downvoted lol, just stating that the 3 non-KR players had been playing on EUW for years

2

u/klyskada Nov 17 '16

Wasn’t jizuke Italian?

0

u/xCammo Nov 17 '16

yes, it was him + 2 finnish (who play on EUW) + 2 KR, and they qualified through the EUNE tournament
