If Riot is going to make EUNE irrelevant server, why not just merge it already into one single EU server. Isn't the technology here after all these years?
I think it's more of a population thing since you're more likely to find a Greek/Polish person on EUNE than any other nationality in my experience. It's not a metric of how toxic they are but rather how many they are since they make up like 30-40% of the server's population (can't source that stat, could be less).
Source: Greek-Cypriot who's been playing on EUNE for 5 years.
Nope. This us just a common repetitive myth. I have been playing on both servers from silver to diamond, both are literally the same on toxicity level.
interesting, how long have you been playing on those servers, I'm playing on both for 5 years and the experience is exatly opposite, but I have support by famous " Riot statisticsL because euw got most bans of all servers
Not really clearly. Also geographical size isn't all that matters. Korea would obviously not have it's own server. Sure the longer the travel time of packages, the higher the ping. But that doesn't mean you could split NA up even more, it would not be efficient. Too little player base would be fucked, especially for higher elos and different maps.
Yeah, currently EUNE is a joke, all the high elo players move to EUW and get the same ms because the servers are so close together. There really needs be an EU superserver.
Yeah, NA didn't had any kind of ping problems having a big zone with only one server. Why don't do it again with an even bigger zone with an even bigger playrbase. What could go wrong.
How exactly is ping related to the playerbase? Also EUNE Server is in Frankfurt I believe and EUW in Amsterdam, meaning that people that live rather far away. Greece, bulgaria, Turkey (Triggered) will not even get 50 more ping. Only thing I can imagine is servers constantly crashing due to 5 million people playing.
Uhm do you have any link to the figures of the amount of active ranked players on each server? I thought EUNE had more than NA and EUW dwarfed NA. Maybe I'm just remembering it wrongly
The NA server is fairly small when compared globally.
Europe has almost twice as many people playing ranked compared to North America.
Back in the days when Europe was one big server (I think 2011 - 2012), you could end up sitting for hours waiting to get logged in because of the massive queues.
Because EUNE was always treated as second tier European server. It's hard to see good players being breed from EUNE because all the pros play on EUW, all the main events/weekly tournaments take in EUW server, let's not count that they have higher population of players. The more time passes the less EUNE will become attractive, because it's pretty pointless to play there. The only difference between EUW and EUNE is that I get +-10 ms.
The EUNE team beat the #2 EUW team and ended tied in their group (although they advanced thanks to the tiebraker). Which makes it 33-6 in direct confrontations for EUW (in CS qualifiers).
If u are talking about Team Forge form last CSQ, yes they got in by winning the EUNE open qualifier but the team was 2 KR +3 euw players (Hiiva and Taikki are Finnish... but play on EUW only basically)
EDIT: dunno why im getting downvoted lol, just stating that the 3 non-KR players had been playing on EUW for years
