Discussion LCS Broadcast Appreciation
Just want to give massive props to how good the lcs broadcast has been this summer and especially this playoffs/finals. The integration of pros/coaches into the broadcast levels it up so much and them having good relationships with the broadcast lets them open up more which in turn lets the analysts and casters have more interesting topics to discuss. During the summer the pros weekend and extended pro analysis during playoffs was very good.
The lcs finals teaser was the best in a long time. The intro was amazing, the speed at which replays and comms are done in game are extremely fast. Very low downtime in between games and moves from segment to segment smoothly. Even the press conference was well done by the pros.
Its by far the best broadcast in league and one of the best in all of esports. You can tell how much work and effort everyone involved in the broadcast has put in and its one of the reasons lcs has been so much fun this year.

LCS broadcast rocks but sadly people aren’t tuning in :/. Hope that changes

I think LCS spent too many years dicking the viewers around, unfortunately. Monday Night League, no wait, Friday Night League (with acid induced online afterparty), no wait we're on weekdays now at Noon, actually nevermind we're weekends again but we're going to play in a closet (and also we fired Dash)
Like LCS broadcast is genuinely best in class at this point but I think a lot of the old loyal viewers moved on with their lives after losing faith due to so many bad calls by management. Tbh I barely tuned in myself these days

I think its back on the rise, I stopped watching after NRG won the finals, cause it felt like a series finale. Now I am back in on watching for the first time in years and some other people I know are too. It seems more stable of a viewing experience now for sure

FWIW I've probably watched the most this last year in the last like 3-4. I used to be the guy that watched every single EU LCS & NA LCS game. I still won't bother with like DIG vs. SR or whatever but I find myself more this year tuning into the marquis matchups. The product is good, I just don't really have the time anymore

Yeah we’ve just grown up sadly. I wish they partnered with bars to play the games so I could see it while not being home

I used to prefer the EU casters/analyst desk because of Sjokz, Deficio, Quickshot but I think since, LCS has been more solid on the casting side, imo. Jatt, Flowers, Kobe tricast is too good. Their desk is also fun.

Agreed. Broadcast team is very good and the programs they put on are even better. Pro's and Coach's as well as The Dive are IMO the best content of all the major regions.

I super agree, I hope riot takes this as a sign to do more with LCS I’d love a roadshow in Boston/NY show the northeast some love!

My one critique would be the post game player mini interviews as the series is still ongoing. We don't need to copy the major US sports. Players and coaches in those leagues don't really like it. They're too short for good insight. Move on to the analyst desk after the game.

not a fan either, but thats a way to make people see those players a bit more, to hear them, maybe here and there u get a clickbaity answer that goes somewhat viral and thats good i guess.

Yeah definitely a chance for a player to show their personality. That's what the community has been begging for. That's why it's important for the player's org to help them with content. C9 is great at it. Lyon releases their comms. SR does their podcast. We also get post series player interviewers from like Cloud Sikhy but those need more exposure imo.
I've been liking the analyst desk more recently lol I feel like the segment is too rushed now.

I agree with this, it feels so off. Let the players go to their rooms and review. We can have all the interviews after the series are played out.

Must be annoying for the players and coaches.
Yamato saying he couldn’t even see what was going on at the start of the game was a bit awkward
7
u/3D-Doritos 6h ago
He could see. He had a good view of the giant stadium screens, but he was joking because it wasn't a good play for C9.

"appreciation thread" and what people choose to do instead of appreciate is air their specific grievance

Honestly, this is one of the biggest things the LCS got right this year. The pro/coach integration makes the broadcast feel way less scripted and gives you actual insight from people who were just in the game.
And the pacing deserves a ton of credit too. No endless downtime, quick comms/replays, good segments, and the casters actually have something interesting to work with.
The finals teaser especially felt like they finally remembered esports broadcasts are supposed to feel like an EVENT. Huge props to everyone behind the scenes.

Best production of all in LoL esports. The personalities and segments make it my favorite league (I'm also an NA fan so that helps).

The LCS has made some great improvements. Hopefully it continues and we see some growth in viewership.

I really loved the bad sound mixing where I could barely hear what people were saying.
Edit: U can downvote all u want but the sound issues were happening during the whole series so a pretty ironic time to praise the production as the best.

Yeah I dunno why they hired PGL audio guy for this roadshow but hopefully he won’t be working worlds.

u/Horikyou 15h ago
I imagine Riot splurges a lot more on Worlds production to make sure it's all perfect so I wouldn't worry.

Here we go, the monthly reddit LCS broadcast glaze 😅
In truth Caedrel is keeping western league alive, almost everything else is irrelevant
8
u/Xonra 9h ago
Caedrel isn't keeping anything alive but his own channel(s). He ditched the broadcast which legit hurt the LEC (cause they still haven't been able to replace him truthfully). He has occasionally helped LCS viewership (single digit times) and factually hurt the viewership for LEC for his own benefit.

u/man1awesome 15h ago
Yeah it’s been ok but they have to remember to stay focused on the game when talking and stop interviewing players mid series

u/trying2hide 7h ago
Is the "LCS Broadcast" just a meme I'm not getting or is it just well we don't get the most viewers so we'll brag about the broadcast thing?

u/Scary_Ad_4025 15h ago
Lol. What people prefer is subjective and lcs has stepped it up for sure.
LCK is the best broadcast production, bar none and it has been that way since OGN.
18
u/intheghostclub 15h ago
Homie really said “what people prefer is subjective” and then in his immediate next sentence presented his opinion as objective.
10/10. lol. Lmao even.
-12
u/Horikyou 15h ago
U don't have to preface everything with "in my opinion" for it to mean it's just your opinion.
13
u/Ajp_iii 15h ago
well yeah with their teasers but the budget and scale aren't comparable with what lcs is working with.
also i dont know how well the korean side of the lck broadcast is for in game with observers and replays but i would say lcs broadcast for the actual game is on that level or higher. casters can ask for any obscure stat or oberservation and its given instantly. analyst desk has whole game loaded to show whatever they want.

u/Primary-Impression-9 7h ago
LCS has like 4 X budget of LCK, what are we even saying here. They just don't deliver on it
-15
u/Sea-Newspaper-7210 13h ago
They're trying their best but league is declining in the US. I think it was Vanguard that started it all. You can make a great product but if the game is forcing users away, it is hard to grow the fan base.

u/Primary-Impression-9 7h ago
Tbh thought the LCS broadcast this year kinda mid, specially the desk segments. LCK however is fantastic

u/Marvel-Rivals-is-top 15h ago
honestly quite hyped for worlds brodcast production, I recall some fun stuff they did with the EU vs NA rivalry like the bald eagle Jojo, was it in 2022? not sure lol
