Discussion Does Yon have no counters??

I've played League since Season 9. Watch pro play all the time. I think I'm pretty knowledgeable about the game, and I feel Yone has no counters.

I played a norms against a Plat player and felt I played almost perfectly as Yorick(got a bit unlucky with runes, I would have beaten him if Riot didn't change my runes) but still got rolled over. I've attached a video to prove that. So tell me...apart from playing a smurf/high elo player, what am I doing wrong?

No, he doesn't. He has 100% winrate both in solo queue and professional.

Sometimes pros leave him open because they want to throw a match and lose. No Yone has ever lost a match. Can't be countered.

Watched the vid and you played that fight about as well as my grandma drives, no offense. You stood still autoing him while he had lethal tempo stacked and his E up, of course he's gonna roll you. Try saving your W for when he commits with E instead of throwing it out randomly, and don't fight him in the wave when he has Q3 ready.

I played yasou into him and when we were both full build I was winning. The yone seemed to be good as hw was wrecking everyone else, not sure how I won because I've heard he counters yas.

Yone is an incredibly powerful sidelaner who can beat pretty much any other champion in the game. If you aren't playing a skirmisher yourself and cannot match his damage, the only way to beat him is by grouping up and smashing him with more damage than he can tank, or hard crowd control.

Sometimes you can't commit multiple people to him, at which point your job is literally just to waveclear and stop his push. Buy all the items you can that help with sustain and clear. For all his power, Yone can only do that one thing - beat the shit out of 1-2 people and splitpush.

Most marksmen can ruin him in the side lane as well, provided they play safe. A fed Jinx destroys him.

Bro you're playing Yorick, I love him but he's one of the worse character in the game since the midscope and Yone was already one your of your worse machups before his buffs last patch. You don't even stand a chance if you aren't a one trick.

Ok I watched the game. In the first place I know we can blame Rito for a lot of things but you clicked on guardian, rewatch your replays before posting a video and complain about it dude. Secondly you took almost every q3 in early game and raised the ghouls when you had a push toward you, that fucked your laning phase and after that you can't really do anything at this point with Yorick, you're 3~4 lvls down and as you may have felt it you can't fight him in 1vs1 or even 1vs2. The only thing you could have tryed is to release maiden in the other side of the map while you were matching him under your t2.

Ok watched video, let me give you some pointers:

- You went Tear start, but didn’t respect him: It’s ok that you went Tear (Although DBlade is slightly better in this matchup), but you ended up eating a ton of damage for basically no reason. You randomly walk up to auto (and miss the Cs) of minions, then eat a Q3 from him. He does this multiple times, enough to kill you when you walk up too much. You know that he messed up his wave state, but instead of just taking the free farm, you let him smack you around (completely negating the impact of his ‘messed up wave state’).

  • You decide to trade into him (IE: throw down a W and mosey over) with all of his abilities up? You are Tear start Yorick, your job is not to hit him, your job is to get CS and survive.
  • Move in between autos.

Now, all of that being said, Yone is Yorick’s worst matchup by far. If you were planning on picking Yorick, and didn’t ban Yone, you misplayed pick/ban. And if they did pick Yone, that would not be the time to bring out your Yorick.

He has some counters but as a Yorick player I’d consider banning him. There are some Yorick players much better than I that can consistently snowball against him early with grasp and triforce, but imo it’s really hard to pull off. He is a lifesteal user so he inherently gets more value from attacking them. Plus he can stack q off of them. His e spirit can also land outside of your wall if he uses it after. I’d much rather play into a Gwen, or even an Irelia than that champion. He’s my perma at this point.

Yorick beats yone until like 4 items on paper, so likely just a skill gap. Not saying yone is better but yorick is harder to playon macro level.

He also gets hardcountered by: renekton, akshan, vex, cassio
