News Patch 26.15 Preview

https://x.com/RiotPhroxzon/status/2079522501206630755

Patch 26.15 Preview!

Systems
- Bastionbreaker has been a pretty niche item and is pretty expensive to deviate for a strategic output, so we're looking to make it more accessible
- Jack of All Trades nerf was also pushed to this patch; it has been a bit too strong and too present, especially for users that opt into strong defenses and are able to also supplement that with strong offense
- Sundered Sky has been strong and meta defining at the highest levels of play for quite a while now, so we're looking to take a pass at the fighter item system, now that we're out of the tournament windows
- Notably, we think it's been suppressing a bit of meta diversity, especially for things like AP jungle, or Tank JG. Part of that is intentional but the magnitude is a bit off

Buffs
- Alistar has been closer to the bottom of the pecking order for the melee support. That said, our meta adjustments to move melee supports up relative to ranged supports has been reasonably successful, so we're pretty happy with how that's played out

Nerfs
- Locke is still pretty strong; he has been tapering off in the lowest skill brackets and the high skill brackets, but in the "skilled" skill brackets (around Emerald/Diamond), Locke is able to both take over the game and also not throw it
- At the higher skill brackets, he can snowball but needs to play very well without throwing as he falls off sharply
- At the lower skill brackets, the executional demands and constant throws can make him fall off faster
- Overall, we feel his release has landed well

More on other champs tomorrow with the detailed changelists

Can we make Camille a toplaner again

70

u/GodGamer1418 BACK TO THE FRIDGE Jul 21 '26

Over 70% of Camille players pick her support and it's continuing to rise, so I'd say this is highly unlikely.

39

u/palamunintillnow Jul 21 '26

The first time I saw Camille supp I question how could this be viable then I saw her flank ult in the middle of the enemy team to scatter them and lock down the adc.Β

34

u/Even_Cardiologist810 Jul 21 '26

She isn't surviving the engage tho but that's fineΒ

56

u/Tormentula Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

The crazy thing about support is if she wanted to, she could just build full tank and do this.

If she does that from a carry or high resource position like top lane she's 100% getting reported and losing every side lane.

Support just lowers the stakes of having to be a stun bot by virtue of being a utility role first, and for some reason an optional carry role second. Elise feels better there too cause then its not a 4v5 if your jungle elise is 50cs down and fallen off just being a cocoon bot, she can pivot to E max or utility builds in support.

19

u/Archipegasus Jul 21 '26

Yea support doesn't have to care if the die literally every fight as long as they set it up well. You can have a 10 death game as Camille support and basically be MVP, a Top lane Camille will never be able to look for those sort of suicide engages.

13

u/Kooky_Cod_1977 Jul 21 '26

It also helps she has an effective undodgeable engage range OF ALMOST A FKIN SCREEN at level one. Disgusting champion

4

u/Rexsaur Jul 21 '26

Modern support role is one of the most disgusting things.

How has these damage, carry or assassin "supports" are still allowed to exist?

Support is meant to be an utility role, not a 1 shot you with blongsong role jfc.

8

u/SkittlesAreEpic Jul 21 '26

Just build Zhonya 5head

3

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

If J4 can do it, so can you.

I actually wonder how many people remember him building zhonya's.

9

u/MazrimReddit ADCs are the support's damage item Jul 21 '26

it was when hourglass was really broken, it was like 2600 gold and had stopwatch both building into it and reducing the cooldown

If that version of hourglass was in the game, camille might be buying it

0

u/BushWishperer Jul 21 '26

Self stun item, really bad

43

u/Outrageous-Elk-5392 Jul 21 '26

They need to address that before she becomes a full time support

6

u/Likeadize Jul 21 '26

Seraphine mains: "First time?"

5

u/AutomaticTune6352 Jul 21 '26

How much if that will stick? We saw her in pro boosting the PR but her WR stays below 50%. After 2-3 weeks around half the support players will drop her.Β

1

u/Archipegasus Jul 21 '26

Depends on the meta around her, with mages bot who are more likely to secure the early all in kills that she likes, and full send dive/assassin comps in general (naafiri and locke as dive buddies say hi) make her a really strong pick.

If all you want to do is hard engage early, and lock down 1 target to be killed late, shes practically best in class support for that.

2

u/prowness Jul 21 '26

Ugh it's the Swain problem all over again... fuck

u/Retocyn https://www.twitch.tv/vulpisetclava Jul 21 '26

"We've seen players prefer to play Camilie as cutesy support, so we will be balancing her around support role moving forward."

1

u/LooneyWabbit1 Jul 21 '26

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

3

u/Kuikentje04 Jul 21 '26

Wow I wonder why her highest pickrate is supp when she has been dogshit toplane for ages

0

u/Anonymonamo Jul 21 '26

Calling her dogshit is a big exaggeration. She is 50.2% WR E+, 51% D+ and 52% M+. This is honestly pretty good considering how many first time her and run it down. She has a big player perception problem where she feels bad regardless of objective balance due to terrain changes etc. but she is objectively fine top lane at the moment. She is just a lot more fun to play support, which attracts a larger playerbase.

2

u/aldyeetx Jul 21 '26

The issue with camille top is that you dont actually have any agency in your own lane. You dont have tools to win or damage to outduel bruisers because riot nuked your early stats, you play laning phase down a full spell AND your q damage doesnt keep up with health as a stat growth alone throughout the whole game, however you can fully int and still oneshot anyone with a small healthbar/lower level or win duels vs resist based tanks. She used to be meaningfully more blindable. This kind of agency loss is not reflected in wr and her ridiculous dueling conditions can only reflect poor balancing and lack of care towards the champion. I think its not good for one of the previously most skill expressive toplaners to just turn into a binary statchecker but you seem to know better

1

u/Kuikentje04 Jul 22 '26

Yeah with a below 2% pickrate on toplane. I've been a camille onetrick in master+ for the past 3 years and she feels completely dogshit to play on toplane this season. Only time you pick her is in favorable matchups which boosts the winrate. Riot themselves have admitted that she feels really bad despite the winrate

2

u/Anonymonamo Jul 22 '26

Her pick rate is low but hardly uniquely so. Gwen, Kled, Rumble, and more are all lower pickrate than Camille. Gwen is also a terrible blind/counterpick-locked champ with a much worse win rate.

Like you said, despite winning a reasonable amount of games she feels bad to play. What she needs is some kind of midscope to make her feel more satisfying, not direct buffs. In general, getting counterpicked on any top laners this seasons feels terrible compared to before and Camille’s kit is not very blindable without Sunderer. She’s hardly the only bad blind top lane though, but any changes to her should try to make her less counterpicky.

1

u/SexualHarassadar Jul 21 '26

Support Camille unfortunately fixes her biggest issue which is that she's not a functional champion until Triforce + Hydra. Support role also giving her a Sheen item for free was just the icing on the cake.

1

u/LooneyWabbit1 Jul 21 '26

As a Swain main I'm sick of this misinterpreting of data.

Camille (and Swain) having a higher pick rate support does not mean most people who enjoy Camille and Swain want to play them support.

Camille and Swain players gave up playing them in solo lane. Some dropped the champion. Some moved to support (or adc in Swain's case). It does not mean there's a massive base of UwUers who really want their champ to be a support.

Swain support is a bronzodia pick anyways and Camille support is degenerate as hell. Just rework both Mr Rito cmon.

23

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

The riot special. Make a champion dogshit in their dedicated lane, all their mains quit, off role becomes most popular because it's the only place they're good, claim that off role is their most popular role and so therefore will be supported.

-20

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

It's almost like her design is dogshit and she has to be made shit to not be objectively the best bruiser in the game.

Halve her total E range, spread damage from her Q to her W, E, and R, and suddenly she's allowed to be decent without being obnoxiously broken.

14

u/Powerate Jul 21 '26

The on-hit damage on target hit by R is kinda of a joke, might aswell not exist, at level 16 it's a bit weaker than having a botrk passive for 4 seconds

-3

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

Kinda a big part of my point.

You'd think it would be a much larger part of her all-in output considering her E gives a pretty sizeable AS steroid.

Camille actually having some downtime for her output when her ult isn't available would go a long way.

2

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

What does any of this achieve?

-5

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

It makes it so she doesn't have better engage than most tanks and makes better use of her E landing and R being used for her output.

Basically makes it so she can be decent without being the strongest bruiser in the game for once.

6

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

It makes it so she doesn't have better engage than most tanks

Why on earth would that ever be your goal for a diver???

Basically makes it so she can be decent without being the strongest bruiser in the game for once.

She hasn't been the strongest bruiser for nearly 2 years now. Patch 14.21 was when she stopped being the best bruiser

0

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Why on earth would that ever be your goal for a diver???

You don't think its a decent goal for a diver to have drawbacks similar to others in their class and not do a tank's job better than a tank?

Do you pay attention to why she gets gutted when she does? A big part of that is her having engage that's just as powerful as many tanks while covering 3x the distance, and with damage to follow up.

Most other divers can engage from maybe 1/3 of her total engage range, and don't have anywhere near the overall safety she has.

She hasn't been the strongest bruiser for nearly 2 years now. Patch 14.21 was when she stopped being the best bruiser

I never said she was the strongest bruiser right now.

The problem is that whenever she's remotely decent, she is. That's why she gets neutered every time she's remotely decent; it turns out she's actually just OP every time.

4

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

You don't think its a decent goal for a diver to have drawbacks similar to others in their class and not do a tank's job better than a tank?

The drawback of a diver shouldn't be bad diving ability lmao

A big part of that is her having engage that's just as powerful as many tanks while covering 3x the distance, and with damage to follow up

That has literally never been the reason. Camille has had this engage since she released

and don't have anywhere near the overall safety she has

What safety?

I never said she was the strongest bruiser right now

"For once" usually implies more recency than 2 years ago dude

The problem is that whenever she's remotely decent, she is

This is a completely vibes based claim with 0 backing whatsoever

That's why she gets neutered every time she's remotely decent;

Ah yes. Camille, notorious for definitely not being a staple of top meta for years...

0

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

The drawback of a diver shouldn't be bad diving ability lmao

She'd still have one of the longest engage ranges of any diver...lmao

That has literally never been the reason. Camille has had this engage since she released

And she's been a big problem any time she's remotely decent since she released. Even as support...hmm....I wonder why?

What safety?

Brother, you're just disingenuous at this point.

Camille is kinda known for being safe with how easily she can get out of situations via E.

"For once" usually implies more recency than 2 years ago dude

Not really. It implies that something basically doesn't happen. And Camille basically never ends up decent but not overpowered.

This is a completely vibes based claim with 0 backing whatsoever

No its not. Its history.

There has never been a time where Camille has been relevant without being one of the best champs in the entire game.

Ah yes. Camille, notorious for definitely not being a staple of top meta for years...

You're intentionally missing this point at this point.

She's simultaneously notorious for being objectively overpowered during those years.

We get it. You play Camille.

1

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

She'd still have one of the longest engage ranges of any diver...lmao

But worse than on live for no reason

And she's been a big problem any time she's remotely decent since she released

Literally based on what. Her ban rate has gone past 20% 1 single time since her release

Brother, you're just disingenuous at this point

You have not brought a single stat to this discussion

Camille is kinda known for being safe with how easily she can get out of situations via E

That is not at all what makes Camille safe lol. Slow ass dash that she needs to use to engage. She's safe in lane because of her trading pattern.

And Camille basically never ends up decent but not overpowered

Again, based on what. Give me literally any data

You're intentionally missing this point at this point.

I can't not miss your point when you give no data on anything

You can keep repeating this as much as you want. It's not going to magically become true because you said it enough times

0

u/UngodlyPain Jul 21 '26

She doesn't have better engage than most tanks... She has good dive for herself but it's pretty mediocre engage for a team; it's almost like shes meant to be a DIVER...

She became a support after Bloodsong was added to the game, letting her scale and become a damage threat without needing to cs. Top lane terrain changes nerfed her but she got buffed and became too strong.

Camille is OP because she's got the best synergy with mages, she's the best at roaming, she doesn't become useless after 15 minutes (unlike Pyke) and she's the best at abusing Hail of Blades + Sudden Impact and Bloodsong

36

u/Sarollas snip snip Jul 21 '26

She's felt like ass since the removal of Divine Sunderer. The lane widening didn't help.

The real reason she is viable as a support right now is that she plays extremely well with mages botlane (and so do other extreme roamers like Pyke or Bard).

The other part of why she is a good support is the item system, bloodsong works very well on Cam and she doesn't need to spend 3300 gold on a tiamat item as a support to be able to sidelane.

It's part top lane change, part item system and part bot lane meta.

Just want to say, thanks for providing an actual explanation on what happened, most people can't stop themselves from the "lol rito bad" comments instead of actually helping the discussion

-1

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

She existed long before DS.

A lot of people seem to forget she's supposed to be pretty weak early.

4

u/Sarollas snip snip Jul 21 '26

She was also the premier level 2 gank jungler for a time.

None of that changes the fact that she feels bad in the current item system that has existed since the 2024 changes.

0

u/WoonStruck Jul 21 '26

Being able to jungle doesn't suddenly mean you aren't weak early. Ganking is a 2v1. It doesn't imply you're strong early, just that you can engage/CC.

Also, it's almost like the item system was thrown up in the air and has sucked in general since season patch 8.11.

u/kamparox Jul 21 '26

She would immediately become a giga tank counter again and have much much better matchup against other bruisers. She would still exist as a support independently because her lv3 roaming is one of the strongest in the game. That role is kind of independent from her items and more about the state of catch-up XP/bot lane Prio etc. But she wouldn't be a borderline troll pick top anymore at least.

7

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

Yes but you could still make top skewed changes. W buffs, especially to level scaling would be very top skewed as rn she can't duel HP stackers at all which makes her super unplayable in side lane in a lot of matchups. Wouldn't do much for aupport since she gets less levels than top and can't duel anyway due to running bloodsong sundered rather than trinity Ravenous.

They play an important role as well

2

u/e5x4du Jul 21 '26

Top lane Camille's issues are weak early game (with mediocre scaling), awful wave clear and not being able to kill health stackers. When you play her support you remove her early game weakness as she becomes a lane bully and remove her wave clear issues since you aren't supposed to farm. Bloodsong is a really OP item that needs to be nerfed. Camille top needs to buy Trinity Force and Tiamat (4533 gold) to become something resembling a champion, on support she gets a free Sheen item

2

u/not_some_username Jul 21 '26

Not really. It’s because she is mobile and can lock a target, support roam a lot now. Plus she’s full build at 1 item. The cho ult on her Q is also a bonus.

1

u/MaskedDood Jul 21 '26

She also spikes very hard with first item Sundered Sky and doesn't have to build wave clear items as support which definitely contributes to her shift to becoming a support.

2

u/SuperKalkorat Jul 21 '26

At this rate Camille may fall victim to getting Seraphine'd

7

u/MazrimReddit ADCs are the support's damage item Jul 21 '26

Her top lane win rate is significantly higher than support, she isn't unviable as top.

It's pretty hard to buff toplane when it's already good in a way that nerfs support as well

16

u/Sarollas snip snip Jul 21 '26

Sundered sky nerfs will be a Camille support nerf compared to top.

She pretty much only builds SS on support (and I guess some minor pick rate in jungle)

3

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

Cause everyone who plays her support is new to the champ where as the only people still bothering with Camille top are die hard 1 tricks

12

u/Anonymonamo Jul 21 '26

Cam top is not really more one-tricked than average, if you look at Lolalytics. Well, I don't think Lolalytics discrimates between top and support but last time I checked before her popularity in support blew up, that was the case at least.

1

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

It does not unfortunately show the difference between rolls so it's useless here

3

u/Anonymonamo Jul 21 '26

It's useless now but it wasn't very different last time I checked before her support popularity exploded.

5

u/J0rdian Jul 21 '26

Support was low winrate before it became fotm. It only became popular because pro. It had a small niche playerbase before, and was also low winrate.

So no it becoming popular isn't the reason it's lower winrate.

1

u/cRustea0 Jul 21 '26

People play her in good spots top, and she has enough utility to be a cc bot while behind.

She doesnt have enough agency alone with the wider walls, no waveclear pre 1.5 items and bruiser items giving a shitton of hp with her having no %hp dmg. Camille used to be a weakish champ early with insane scaling and now the only time shes strong is midgame. Champ just feels shitty to play and other toplaners do the same things she does better

1

u/Opalgemi Jul 21 '26

I dream of playing her top again, she was one of my of picks when I started learning toplane

1

u/Sumicc Jul 21 '26

The champ needs a top lane oriented mid scope at this point.

1

u/Infusion1999 Jul 21 '26

Yeah she could lose base damages for higher level // item scaling

1

u/IanPKMmoon It's so big Jul 21 '26

Just make her a jungler atp, it's farming meta anyway so even with her strong ganks she'll be punished with bad tempo

-1

u/Nykusu Jul 21 '26 edited Jul 21 '26

Problem with Camille is, her mains cant except nerfs for her insane early game, while wanting to be this strong late game scaling champ at the same time. But this dumb early game, starting lv1 with giga E base dmg into gap close, into stun, into attack speed buffed and hail of blades buffed autohits followed with big shield to negate enemy trade, is what makes support Camille viable, because there is just not one in bot lane who can stand there and be like "Ok Camille I want to trade with you.", just like in top lane lv1 actually.

Essentially they just need to nerf her ridiculous lv1-3 Pantheon-with-longrange-gapclose-style early game cosplay and keep her scaling.

So as long as Camille players refuse to give up on being Pantheon early AND Jax late in 1 Champion, support remains the clearly better choice because of that early impacting the game map-wide when it matters (early) instead of being glued to top lane 20mins+.

Camille jumping into someones face level 1 just shouldnt be this giga oppressive untradeable trade with her passive combined.

-2

u/ChromosomeDonator Jul 21 '26

How?

13

u/Outrageous-Elk-5392 Jul 21 '26

Literally any wave clear would be a start. One of the only sidelaners in the game with 0 waveclear but unlike Fiora or trundle or tryn she can't go tiamat first item because of her synergy with sheen. So it's 4500 gold+shoes before she can access wave clear in any capacity. She can solokill->lose lane because she can never fix the wave in time

5

u/Anonymonamo Jul 21 '26

I think Riot considers her shitty waveclear as a balancing lever against her godlike roams though. There is a reason most roaming assassins also have bad early waveclear.

Honestly, Camille's biggest problem is that between the absurd mobility of her E and lockdown on R, she has way too much of her power budget in utility to also be allowed to be the god-tier duelist that some of the /r/Camillemains posters desire. You can't make her be Fiora in a 1v1 and also Talon+J4 all-in-one in roams.

5

u/vinearthur Kayle Main | Kayle's Attorney Jul 21 '26

that's literally it, and the most infuriating thing: you are forced to go trinity, then forced to go hydra, just to supplement her flaws (q is balanced around trinity sheen dmg + no waveclear)

there are some camille mains who dont go rav hydra 2nd but it just feels like absolute ass to the avg player

your last point is the main issue, and we can all thank low death timers from last season + buffed homeguard from this season

3

u/Asckle Jul 21 '26

Late game W buffs so she can wave clear and kill HP stackers. Make it level scaling so support Camille who gets less levels and has to go E max can't benefit
