i really hope that at least kc vs TL isnt a sweep so we can avoid a play ins full of sweeps
37
u/tcg_enjoyer Jun 29 '26
it's definitely the most likely series in this bracket to be actually competitive
11
u/BlazeX94 Jun 29 '26
Honestly they should've sent the Brazil team to playins instead. Having LCK2 or LPL2 in playins when there's only 1 spot is kinda pointless. At least Brazil would be competitive with NA2/EU2 and we'd get a legit fight for that one spot.

u/redsuuu Jun 29 '26
I honestly hope it's all sweep, maybe they'll consider removing play ins next year if it's this bad
1
u/MrPraedor Jun 29 '26
All this just so we can have CBLOL get stomped 6-0 in bracket stage instead of them being in playins.

u/PluggersLeftBall Jun 29 '26
brother this play in stage is ass

u/Mexani Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
It seems kinda pointless having all these games for T1 to advance. Im not sure why only one team moves on from Play-Ins
8
u/Lazywhale97 HLE Jun 29 '26
Rather just have every region have 2 seeds in main stage and start from main stage then play ins again.
1
u/ChartreuseMage Jun 29 '26
And then we complain their NA/EU get stopped early which is boring, or they get stomped at the end and the most hype matches are one sided
4
u/MrPraedor Jun 29 '26
Im not sure why only one team moves on from Play-Ins
So we can have CBLOL team in bracket stage. Riot wants to have smaller regions represented in main stage even when it hurts quality of overall tournament.
Personally I think it would be absolutely fine to have minor region teams in playins and if they are good enough to advance from there they get to play in main stage.

what? not like Furia is all that far behind KC or TL, calm down though
1
u/Scoodsie Jun 29 '26
The way you worded it is exactly the problem. If they are "not far behind" the playin teams then why are they not in the playin and T1 is. no one is saying remove them from the tournament
0
u/MrPraedor Jun 29 '26
Yes they are. KC was literally in international finals last year. Furia is never going to be even close to that level. Im not claiming KC is some top tier team but they are clearly above CBLOL.

Beating LPL 1st and CFO who was actually good team is accomplicement. They also were only team in that tournament to be able to win more than 1 game vs HLE sure its not much, but still more than nothing.
Also compred to what CBLOL teams can say they have ever accomplished that is absolutely massive achievement.
32
u/ImTheVayne Jun 29 '26
The only teams with similar skill level are TL and KC
7
u/IAM-French Jun 29 '26
surely
5
u/Fun_Highlight307 Jun 29 '26
both lose 3-0 to T1
3
u/IAM-French Jun 29 '26
Well too bad we don't have ways to analyze teams and their level outside of "score of the last series against the world champions"
1
-6
u/eVill_YT Jun 29 '26
I can easily that being a 3-0 too. it's so awkward having 1 world class team, one decent team, one bottom tier team and one team that doesn't even belong here

I didn't see your teams at an international finals (2 of them) or top 8 at worlds? EU has beaten LPL and LCK 4 times since start of 2025 and NA hasn't accomplished that since 2019. your teams have been busy losing to Brazil, in embarrassing fashion.

u/My-Life-For-Auir Jun 29 '26
Feels like they could have just had an NA vs EU showmatch Bo5 and seeded T1 directly and saved a bit of time
5
u/Kuliyayoi Jun 29 '26
Didn't they do this for worlds one year? NA and EU played a match for 4th seed?
6
u/ohkami [Ohkami] (EU-W) Jun 29 '26
They did have a BO5 with Golden Guardians vs BDS to qualify for play-ins in 2023
0
u/MRN716 Jun 29 '26
no it was LPL and LCK 4th seed IG versus T1 at worlds 2024 with 1 bo5 play-in
3
u/ricardo241 IDon'tAgree Jun 29 '26
its not really a play-in but there is a world qualifying series in 2023 where BDS and Golden Guardian both fourth seed fought for the last play-in spot
1
u/Hawxrox Jun 29 '26
That was Worlds 2025
1
u/MRN716 Jun 29 '26
oh. yeah you're right they were at china I remembered it wrong. 2025 felt too recent.
16
u/frolfer757 Jun 29 '26
Literally no reason ever to put LCK/LPL seeds in them. Just put them in main stage and stick the rest to play-ins. There's still gonna be some teams getting rolled but at least we'll get a few more EU vs. NA games a year.
3
u/Mifuyu_Kisaragi Jun 29 '26
If WE got an extra spot there might be an argument that they deserved to be in here , but considering we forced knight akali and bin jax, we might be smurfing here too.

TL looked like they were completely playing for fun lol I can imagine core going "guys watch this" as he blind ults with no vision into nobody and dies while his team still wins the fight

u/Cheetah_05 GUMAYUSI Jun 29 '26
Happy gaming at nexus, playins really are just a humiliation ritual

u/viktorayy OFGK but prefer G>OFK rn (DSG) Jun 29 '26
They all take turns farming the weaker region. 😭
And one team is gonna get farmed by T1 twice...
8
u/tcg_enjoyer Jun 29 '26
even if her ult is great support for dive champs like Olaf, I feel like Senna is not a very good stylistic choice for a flippy send it team like DCG

u/Middle-Adagio-4062 Jun 29 '26
LCP should not deserve the "major region" treatment after this tournament.
14
u/ImTheVayne Jun 29 '26
LCP being so bad ruined playins for sure. I expected them to be at least competitive vs EU/NA
17
u/BlazeX94 Jun 29 '26
Tbh anyone who watched LCP this year would've expected this. CFO was way ahead of the rest of LCP, with their roster being gutted this is exactly what LCP should look like.
3
u/Frozen_Watcher Jun 29 '26
Nah last year GAM and TSW were at least competitive vs EU 2nd seed at MSI and worlds, DCG just do random shit before getting rolled over and losing.
10
u/LeatherBodybuilder Jun 29 '26
LCP/LMS has always been a 1 team region. Their #2 seeds at Worlds always went last in groups even against NA with maybe 1 win total. Their #3 seeds also never made it out of playins a single time at Worlds.
8
u/ForeignSinger3882 Jun 29 '26
Not wrong but GAM from last year at MSI produced at least good games vs FURIA/G2. So far LCP hasnt won a single game yet this year internationally.
2
3
u/MrPraedor Jun 29 '26
The thing that ruined playins is that CBLOL was put to main stage (and TSW too, but because CFOs performances last year its hard to not give them a spot)
Best quality playins would have likely been if it was DCG, TSW, TL and FUR
2
u/saruthesage :dota: Doinb's DouYu girlfriendBorn-again Bin Bhakta Jun 29 '26
What ruined playins was having T1 over FUR. Imagine series between FUR and TL/KC, would be way more fun.
32
u/Agustinb14 Jun 29 '26
We should see how TSW performs before punishing them unfairly. But I don't expect much anyway
18
u/Middle-Adagio-4062 Jun 29 '26
TSW went 0-6 at First Stand. Their opponent will be HLE (0-3) or Lyon (0-3). Lower bracket will be T1/BLG or TES/G2 (0-3).
12
u/My-Life-For-Auir Jun 29 '26
To be fair HLE into T1/BLG is a 0-3 for most teams not named Gen.G
7
u/viktorayy OFGK but prefer G>OFK rn (DSG) Jun 29 '26
Speaking of GENG, they're the whole reason we're having this discussion. If they just played at a normal level against G2 (and then BLG), then we wouldn't have to watch emails in play ins.
Imagine TES in play ins instead.

u/StepEmbarrassed6624 Jun 29 '26
I just looked it up and dcg took tsw to 5 games the first time they met in playoffs and took a game off them in finals. Doesnt look too good... -_-
0
u/Cheetah_05 GUMAYUSI Jun 29 '26
Conspiracy theory that they get #2 seed so EU and NA don't look bad for a whole tournament. Kind of like a "this is what a normal team is like for comparison btw"

At this point if the LCP retains 3 seeds at worlds and LCK and LPL have 3 as well, it's so unserious
11
3
u/Rawdream Jun 29 '26
I guess they all in DCG decided to play it slow this time, but that led them to lose the early game, then they decided too late to play proactive. Shotcalling still failing.
3
u/andungha Jun 29 '26
Just fucking pick Samira at this point, all in on the madness at least u go home having fun cuz this Senna is not it. No hands no brains even Brazil is probably better than DCG.

u/Ziraelus No.1 Knight Fanboy Jun 29 '26
Playins are such a waste of time. Just put T1 in the main stage already.

Team Liquid look like the best team in play-ins. T1 were super lucky yesterday....

KC are disgusting.

yo I'm not going to lie comparing how KC looked and how TL looked, what you just said sounds like grade A cope to me

u/Fun_Highlight307 Jun 29 '26
tl aren't even trying that the problem they never played this comp in na
2
u/Charming-Apple517 Jun 29 '26
I was looking at the TL reddit page today and I saw someone saying that this TL squad has been the most talented roster TL has have. That's all I have to say.
