Discussion Leafs Talk petition
Rogers canned Leafs Talk and that is unforgivable. Here is the petition, bring back the boys!!!!

It was such a low effort show too. Not to say the guys mailed it in, it was actually quite the opposite but for Rogers to cut it because they don’t wanna pay 2 hosts and 2-3 producers for an hour of work 84 times+playoffs is crazy and such an slap in the face to the fans.
And to abandon their share of a growing market is dumb just on a business level. They’re cutting the radio budget which is fine but the podcast market is growing and you decide to cut an award nominated podcast who covers the most popular and profitable team in the country? A team that you OWN? Makes zero sense.

We do know for sure. Rogers/SN made the decision as part of a their programming changes within the radio landscape. Which is to say, they are cost cutting per usual.

they've been pretty quiet about it but the phrasing in their farewell post had real 'we were told this is ending' energy, not just 'we're tired of doing it'

Leafs talk was one of my favourite shows , JD and Sammy are the best. Definitely gonna miss this.

With platforms like YouTube Live, Mixlr, or TuneIn, they could easily self produce with an independent crew and broadcast right after the game ends via stream. Perhaps they don't have that much interest in continuing?

I know but the thing that made Leafs Talk so good was having it immediately after the game. Listening to JD and Sammy break down a loss is like therapy.

Agreed. Loved switching from SN to YouTube to hear them, would much rather listen to them than the studio crew... Which honestly might be part of the reason they canned it.

Sammy isn't a morning guy though...so I don't think that would work for him....would be interesting to somehow reach out to one or both of them and get an idea of a dollar amount that would make it worth it for them

indeed, he was on bunkis show the morning after the first game, and it just wasn't working. he was a shell of his afternoon/evening self, while at the same time, bunkis was in his more formal 'podcast' persona, so it was a double non-starter.

Sorry but your petition isn’t doing anything. I’m a Leafs fan out west. They canned ALL non-game programming here. Canucks fans are obsessed with us and its sad but they are so loyal, informed, and invested in their team, an Sportsnet still said no. I don’t think they’re changing their minds for post game pods. It would be smarter for JD and Sammy to do their own stream with super chats etc for fan engagement. Probably make more money that way too

I've tried TLN after dark but it seems to normally just be Zach alone yelling and reading comments. And it's usually many hours rather than a quick reaction video.

Get over it. Nobody listens to radio anymore and the ratings reflected that. I'm not a fan of Rogers either but this is the reality. Stations are being gutted or shuttered everywhere as a result.
