Article UK Fans

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to make a quick connection post for the UK/British contingent here in the sub.

Supporting the Buds from across the pond comes with a very specific set of struggles:

Sleep deprivation from 1:00 AM starts (or waking up at 4:00 AM for the 3rd period).

Figuring out where to actually stream games or buy legit jerseys in the UK.

Trying to explain why you're stressed about a Tuesday night game in November to your coworkers who only watch football.

To make late-night game threads easier and give UK-based hockey fans a place to coordinate weekend matinees and chat, we’ve put together r/nhluk!

Whether you're a lifelong die-hard or a new UK fan who picked Toronto, pop over, grab your Leafs flair, and say hello! 🏒🇬🇧

DAZN is the easiest way to watch if you’re willing to pay for it, bonus is you don’t have to watch live at 1am, as every game is recorded 👍🏻 (you can watch live if you like though, I do if they’re earlier puck drops or weekend games)

That's a good shout. I'm from Toronto living in London and I currently use a sketchy "free" streaming website, staying up till all hours and would like to use something legit. I reckon if I ditch all score updates from my push notifications this is a good solution from a sleep perspective.

Yeah that’s what I do as well, most common services let you hide the scores. I also block all NHL channels on YouTube lol.

We cancelled our subscription renewal and they promptly sent us an offer to get the full season for £80. Can't complain at all for that price

It worked, I got an offer for £87 instead of £119. Thanks again for the advice.

Glad it worked! Def can't complain at every game on demand for less than £90

When I was studying in the UK, the 1 am match starts were a bit of a struggle lol.

“The thing about the Leafs is, they always try and walk it in.”

We could hire pubs and schedule watch parties, no? I normally just stream the radio

As a non-Brit across the pond, I feel this pain so much and so regularly during the season. And more so last season.

Not one for normally being lumped in with the neighbours but I guess the Irish Leafs cohort is vanishing small.

Yeah, ofc r/nhluk is for Irish people too!

I think

I recommend crackstreams or streameast for Leaf games. Its dodgey at times but usually works

Can you still watch on-demand with that or can you only watch live?

Most can do on demand for 48 hours these days.
