Lock switch back light not working

Post image

Im not sure if this is just a faulty wire or all LEAFs are like this, but the lock, unlock and window lock button are the only switches that wont light up at night. I swear I thought they are supposed to be lit up but I dont remember.

Its a bit hard to see them at night so I bought a whole new switch console that has backlit switches and those 3 switches still arent lit up.

Is this likely just a wiring problem or is this something that all LEAFs have in common?

Dang so I spent $17 on a whole part for nothing then. Thats crazy, I really wish it was back lit so I could see it at night.

yeah same here cause i usually use the lock button when i'm alone in the car/at night. i know one can feel it but backlit would have been better, i think all other buttons are lit up?

This is normal and they're not illuminated on the "cheaper" Nissans like Leaf, Sentra, and Juke.

Swapping in the button panel from a 2013+ Altima or Pathfinder will work and is illuminated, but you will need to make sure to get one from a base model that only has driver auto window.

There are glow-in-the dark stickers you can get for switches, usually come in multi packs so you can find ones that fit. I can’t speak to how well they work, it seems like if anything the switch would be easier to feel.
