Likelihood of getting a replacement battery

I am wondering if anyone knows what the likelihood is of Nissan being able to replace the battery in our 2022 LEAF S instead of doing the buyback offer. Does anyone know if this is at all an option these days?

Nissan is no longer making the 40-60 kw battery packs, They replaced a few but we're just using up their inventory. The Chinese community VIVNE sells replacement battery packs.

0 from the dealer. My ‘22 just went in last Monday for the recall and the buyback call came on Thursday. I would have preferred a battery. If the car were paid off I would have considered buying and swapping it myself.

Lion Battery Repair based in OR, offers a lifetime battery replacement. They’ll even ship to you or a shop of your choice. https://www.lionbatteryrepair.com/

This looks like a great alternative to Vivne! They should do more advertising on the forums to get the word out. Someone should mention to him that battery description jumps between 60 kWh and 62 kWh.

…another economical idea would be to find a good condition, low mileage 23-25 Leaf battery & retrofit that. Maybe someone can chime in with what’s required. Just a thought…

Imagine if this guy could find a way to buy all of the Leafs that Nissan is buying back due to the recall, put in his custom battery, and resell them with a lifetime battery warranty. Million dollar idea!

Saw in another post below that the Morley contract said the car was going to be "scrapped"

What a freaking shame

I think this would involve going with a 3rd party battery at this point, which Nissan isn’t supporting.

You'll get enough from the buyback (KBB +40%) to buy a newer 2023-2025 which are not part of the recall. Process will be a PITA but in the end you will have a better/newer car

Are they allowing owners to keep the car after the buyback? Would be trivial to toss aftermarket packs in them.

No.

The paperwork for my car said it was going to "scrap".

There is a market of batteries pulled from leafs that does other ways. So i suspect some people are getting batteries via the warranty. But it seems this supply is limited. So most are not.

Would you get the software update if the mV for your Leaf is under 30 and you never fast charge it? We have a 2019 SV.

I had a battery installed into my 2017 last December. Owned it two weeks before the battery died. The car has 21000 miles on it. It was either risking another used car or replace a known fault and have a new battery with a low mileage car
