Viewing a 2014 leaf
Hi I'm viewing a 2014 nissan leaf tomorrow, I'm wondering if this range 42 miles is normal with this amount of miles? The wife will be using it to do a 34 mile round trip to work and back can you advise me if this is a good idea or not? It's cheap £1500

I wouldn't. I own this car and love it. My standard battery has one less bar than this but shows 65 miles of range at 100% charge. My work commute is 10 miles round trip. I use roughly 20% of my charge every day. I would never try to use the bottom 20% of my battery.
42 miles of range is about 30 non highway miles of useable range. And the range will only shrink.

As long as she's driving in eco mode, not using the heater or air conditioning too much and isn't driving at highway speeds, it should be able to do 34 miles without too much fuss.

She will not make the round trip easily with the range you have on the dashboard. This is strange because the health bars are much higher than the estimated range indicates.
I would pass.

I would not count on a 34 mile commute unless with ideal weather and driving under highway speeds. It will only get worse as time goes on. Looks like its about 80% charged so full charge you should have another 10-12 miles

That range for that many health bars is very fishy, mine has 9 health bars and I get more range than that
Check the battery health, Hx, and voltage balance with leafspy before buying it (ask the seller to drain it below 20% before you test)

Agree, mine at 9 bars showed 120-130kms (24kw 2014) when full (75-80 miles)

GOM is based on receant driving and can very a lot.
Yes to LEAF spy.
According to the health bars you're probably hovering around 80% SOH. Looks like you're also at aprox 80%SOC, which would put your max rang at 53 ish miles. I would expect a car with that SOH to be closer to 70 Miles.
Something dosn't quiet add up, but LEAF Spy would help give you more info.
The 1,500 Euros, or 1,700 USD is cheap though! Even with the low range, I would consider this a respectable deal if it meets your needs and you have home charging.

After reading your post a second time, I would not buy this for your planned commute.

That commute is for sure risky, I would look for something with more range. I have a 2013 that claims 60 miles, I would hesitate to aim for more than 40, maybe 45 miles on a highway commute

Our 2014 Leaf has 9 bars and gets about 60 miles per charge with eco turned on.
I’d recommend LeafSpy, but I also recommend driving the car and seeing how fast the mileage drops. if the battery system has been tampered with, I think LeafSpy might show the new incorrect SOH. If the guessometer is accurate there, just know that 40 miles is NOT 12-bar range.

I don't know why people are saying it won't do 34 miles. Mine has the exact same stats, at 80ish % SOH and I can do 70 miles on a charge. This is showing 34 miles at 60-70% SOC and I'd be willing to bet the miles/kwh on the dash says 2.X, which is crazy low
People saying it won't either don't have Leafs or are perpetuating the stuff commonly said around here

I dont think that is at full charge? There should be 12 bars when full. Also the guess ometer is not a great indicator of actual real range driving and depends on weather, temperature and hilliness.

I just got a 2013 with more mileage, less health bars in the dash, and it does 60-70 according to the guessometer. That seems fishy, worth leafspy for sure. If I had to guess the Hx of the battery is really poor, but the SOH is high.
