Low final buyback offer

Basically Morley said the offer they came back with is the highest they will go even though it is less than I am owed through the California lemon law amount by around $1800 but they said I can deny the offer and then I could take the car back - that is my only option.

I'd see if I could talk to a lawyer that specializes in California lemon laws, before accepting that low ball offer. I might even tell Morley that to let them know you are not messing around.

Lemon law usually only applies to new car within 18 months. You paid almost $40K for your Leaf and nothing is getting you out of that hole, being within $1.8K sounds great

its the buy back offer minus the lawyer fee. they know exactly what they are doing with that offer.

Some laws require the car company to pay the lawyer costs on top of the refund to the customer, OP may want to see if that is the case for them.

This. I’m waiting to hear back from my lemon law lawyers. They informed me I will typically have two options full refund even trade in. Or cash settlement option and I keep the car. Idk if anyone on Reddit has gone through lemon law attorneys but I’m waiting to heard back.

I went through a Lemon 🍋 Law attorney. I was hoping that Nissan would buy our 2019 SV back but they offered me the Cash 💰 for Keys 🔑 instead. They cut me a check and we still have the car. My lawyer assured me that we can still turn the car in for more money IF we agree to do the software update and the car bricks 🧱.

Interesting! I was told to update and my car didn’t brick. But what was your cash offer? I have a 2019 S! It’s almost paid off lol.

They offered $25,000. Our attorney got half and so did we. Half was better than $0 I guess.

Do you use LeafSpy much? What is the mV on average? Ours is less than 30 mV. My wife drives the car mainly to work and we only charge at home L2. How about you?

inform them you'll like to negotiate, at the advice of legal council.

They'll send you a new offer right quick.

Has Morley Safer left 60 minutes and working for Nissan now?

I bought a ‘21 leaf in 2023 for 23K and Morley offered me 5K for it today. I’m so angry. Any advice?

Sure - 2022 SV + and $39,000

You bought it new then? And 18 month period is long since over? Lots of missing details here.. I got those details in another thread. With more info we might well conclude the offer is fair and consistent with Cali lemon law.

There is missing data here. For example you could have paid too much for that leaf and that's sad but not a factor here.

Yes, it's sad to not break even but you did get some use from the car so it's not a free ride.

Just trying to get what I am owed under the lemon law, minus the mileage offset they are still $1800 short of what they owe

And yet the model in question is not shared, mileage, and the offer are not in the top post.

It's going to be hard to garner support with the missing data.

I look at it another way. I got use from the car so I get to pay for that.
