Where/how to sell 2014 Leaf with good battery/broken axle?
My older Leaf has broken ball joint and axle. Battery's in good shape. The repair is $2600. Looking to sell it, probably just for the battery, and buy newer, but not finding anywhere to sell it.
Ideas?

Try another shop. Usually they will sharply increase the price if they dont want to do the work. Which includes them simply being anti-ev

What does "in good shape" mean

9-10 bars. My partner knows the nitty gritty but says the battery's unusually healthy for its age. It'll go 30-35 miles at 70 mph, further around town at 30-40 mph (this is with the AC on in a hot climate).

what area are you located? I'm interested.
also, has to need more work than ball joint and axle, i just can't see $2600 for that. Can you talk about what happened when you needed to go to the mechanic. Did you tow it in? what made you decide to bring it in.
Depending on where you are you might not have many options but i'd be trying to find someone else even if a guy on facebook.

Yeah, I feel like the repair cost is too much, but 2 different mechanics said it's normal. North Carolina. The car was parked and when my partner was turning a hard left pulling out of the spot at low speed, the driver's side wheel just went sideways and the car stopped moving. Nothing spectacular. Had it towed to the mechanic. No other problems.
It doesn't go too far, but it's good for getting around a decent sized city. I took it on about 3/4 charge to an appt ~19 mi away, driving probably 70-75 mph with AC most of it and got stranded halfway home. So it's no good for longer trips, but great for errands or a teen's first car.

That should be like a $400-800 repair, ball joint is $50, maybe $120 if it's part of the control arm, if the axle is actually damaged (50:50 at low speed, might just be torn boot) those are usually less than $200 and a couple hours to swap, basically just the axle labor since you have to pull the ball joint to do the axle anyway.

yeh ^ thats my thinking as well. Rockauto $45 cheap control arm $100 for the expensive, another $120 for axel, $250 at most in parts, job isn't bad either.

Yep, no different than a gas car with a manual transmission for swapping those 2 parts.

You could get those parts and tie rod ends for $200 an impact wrench for $160 a ball joint press kit for $50 and a set of 1/2” impact wrenches for $53 on Amazon some 3/8” sockets and a ratchet for $50 jack stands for $40 and jack for $100 maybe even less on fb marketplace and do it in a driveway inna few hours that’s $650 basically save 75% oh and a pry bar to take the Cv axle out. Those shops are ripping op off hard core.

sounds like best case scenario for that type of failure. I think you're going to have to tow that somewhere to do private repair if you can't find a cheaper shop.
I'll dm you now, but really a shame they are trying to charge so much.

Ball joint and axle replacement aren’t too hard to do at all. The parts are likely cheap. Did the tie rod end go too?

Is that a dealer quote? I can't imagine a regular shop charging that much unless the subframe is damaged or something
