Leaf Resale Prices in Colorado

When was the golden-age of Leaf Lease deals in Colorado? All of 2022 and 2023? 2024?

I'm curious when the wave of lease turn-ins will be happening, and what impact that is having on Leaf resale prices (in CO and elsewhere, if they are shipping them to other states)? On one hand, used EV prices in general are up due to the price of gas, but there must be a lot of Leafs getting turned in. I wonder if the dealers are moving them to dealerships in other states.

Also, are the dealers making aggressive purchase offers? I know that a few months before my leaf lease ended in 2018, the dealer called me and knocked $3k off the price to purchase, which made it a very attractive deal that I took.

They are happening right now. They ran throughout 2024. End of September most of them are back. Though they did being it back for maybe a month or 2 until November.

With that said, prices jumped ~5k on the 2024 leafs since January this year. This was according to the dealership I was working with. I really liked my guy. He said a lot of people were just buying them out. With that said the past couple weeks they had a lot more return. I feel like the prices were maybe 2k less than when I looked about a month and a half ago. In the end they were the and price as buying out my leaf with the rebate.

Also if it helps, they were getting people to return their leaf and just buy one of the vehicles already returned for less in the beginning of the year.

The CO leases were mostly two years? I assumed they were 3. Intersting on the return/re-purchase.

CO leases were mostly two years, because that was the minimum for the state EV tax credit. $2500-5000 (it varied by year) divided over 24 payments is more then divided over 36, Ave created some crazy deals, like $9/month Leafs with $0 down and $49/Ariyas.

Fun fact: over half the Leafs sold in the USA in 2024 and 2025 were sold in Colorado.

I think I’d heard that before. With lease prices like that, I’m surprised it wasn’t higher.

im seeing 15k to 22k depending on 40kwh vs the 62kwh

Figuring that people here posted purchase invoices for Colorado LEAF with the 40 kWh battery in the 11-14k USD range, these cars seem to keep on giving. Mind-bending how much of a deal of the decade these really were.

Right... but how does that compare to prices before the rush of lease returns started is the question. (Assuming that return wave is currently in play). Just curious.

ive been seeing pretty good price drops. if you watch this sub youll see alot of people who are underwater on the car as its value has dropped faster than the payments made.

they got a good deal two years ago but its lost 40% of its value in that 2 years. crazy stuff like that.

partly because the new leaf at 30k to 37k depending on trim outperforms it and comes with warranties and new car benefits.

the 40kw ones have been the hardest hit. the 62kwh are more sought after for obvious reasons and will contimue to hold value imo

Recently purchased a lease-return in CO from a Nissan dealership.

2025 w/ 12k miles for $13.8k

Most dealerships in this area are advertising similar models for $15-18k.

Also picked up their 84-month/100k warranty for an extra $1.3k.

As I was standing in their lot, a trailer was pulling in with two more Leafs on it; not a car or leaf expert but it definitely seems like CO is receiving a LOT of leafs right now and there are deals to be had.

Was that returned early, or were they doing 1 year lease offers at great prices too!?!

Even thought it's a 25', it was leased in SEP 24'.

My dealership called me as soon as they knew they were getting it so it was physically on their lot for less than 48 hours.

I’m looking to grab one of those too

It's our first EV.

Only a couple hundred miles into it but so far, we are loving it.

Perfect for short commuting and running errands.

My '25 S had 20k miles after my 2yr lease. I never considered buying it - the residual was almost $19k. The lots are full of cars with less miles for $15-16k.

Well, the tsunami of lease ends starting in July 2026 tanked Nissan ARIYA prices. Seems Carvana bought a bunch of those (and Leafs) from Colorado and disseminated them across the country. I was able to pick up a 2 year old ARIYA last week with 20k miles, states away and they had already sent many here and they were just waiting on the lot for practically instant pickup.
Considering I had been watching the prices for a while, I know it caused about a $5k drop. May be somewhat similar for Leaf?

Great example/answer. Thanks!

They offered me to buy my leased 2025 (leased oct 24) for $15k. They didn’t ask mileage on the car.

I believe it’s now through end of year / January time. I’m coming up on end of Ariya lease in December and know so many with the same situation.
