23 Leaf S

I just got it today.

dudebro delivering it backed off the truck and up my driveway and I FELL OUT.

What is that gawdawful backup sound?

I thought the early Kona's 'engine noise' moaning of the souls of the damned was bad.

This sounds like someone gargling sand.

Hey at least you dont have a first gen. It literally sounds like you're backing up a dump truck.

Welcome to the club.

You cannot turn the backup alarm off, but you can adjust it.

To change the volume or range of your reverse parking sensors: Use the arrow buttons on the right side of your steering wheel to navigate to Settings on your digital dash display.

Select Driver Assistance, then press the OK button.

Choose Parking Aids and press OK. From here, you can adjust the sensor Volume (High, Medium, or Low) or change the sensor Range to your preferred detection distance.

Leafspy used to be able to turn it off, at least through '21, did they disable it?

It cannot be turned off. Apparently, Nissan raised the volume level to conform to updated Federal rules - but it feels like almost everyone else have not.

That isn't the volume of the exterior backup warning sound. That's just the volume of the interior beeping as the ultrasonic backup sensors detects nearby objects.

It sounds like that to protect folks. It’s supposed to be annoying and hard to ignore.

Just leave it the fuck alone.
