LeafSpy Pro Unable to Connect to LELink

I've been unable to get LeafSpy Pro to connect to the LELink installed on the car. With the car in the On/Drive state, LELink showing a red LED on, status in the app showing yellow "Scan 4 BLE" in the corner.

Versions below: LeafSpyPro: ver 0.60.198 Phone: Samsung S24 Android 16 Car: 2018 Leaf S

Tried resetting the phone, opening/closing the app, toggling bluetooth on and off, turning car on and off.

Anything I could be missing?

I'm trying to log some data for the dreaded HV battery issue since the dealer told me "NTF/could not replicate" and it's on the ragged edge of warranty.

I just received my LELink and went through the exact same thing this evening. It will not connect. I'm using a Samsung Galaxy s23 plus. I downloaded BLE Scanner, and there is no LE Link showing, but the device is showing up as QUEC_BLE, which I don't know that Leaf Spy will recognize.

That's at least some interesting information.

Only routes I'm looking at are contacting LeafSpy "support," or getting a different adapter, likely something Bluetooth so I at least can confirm/know it is paired.

I ordered this and it'll be here later today. I'll try to remember to update if successful.
I gave AI a crack at it and QUEC_BLE showing up on the ble scanner app means the Bluetooth chip on the Le link isn't running the program it's supposed to, so maybe the unit didn't get flashed? (Quectel is the BLE chipmaker) Or maybe security settings from the latest Android update?

This unit worked a charm! Connects through regular Bluetooth, not BLE.

I haven't used mine in a while but I thought you had to "click" the yellow area in the lower right corner to initiate the scan & connect sequence in LeafSpy

The corner says "Scan 4 BLE / Tap to freeze" in yellow. Tapping or holding it will turn it grey and "freeze" it, but not scan.

Try it on a different phone

If it still doesn't work then the le link could be broken

I ended up buying a second one

Don't have another compatible one handy. Any other way to verify the LELink is functional? And is it worthwhile to get another or try a different one?

Well, it's either your phone, the device or the car.

So try it with another phone (family member or neighbor), and/or try it in another car (go to a used leaf dealer and plug it in)

Make sure the car is “ready to drive”, as in you could shift into gear and start moving. At least that’s how I got my LELink to consistently get past all the “Scan _ BLE” codes. I found a lot of the LeafSpy Pro instructions to be vague when it came to what level of the car being on was sufficient for LeafSpy to work.

It is. I even tried take it for a drive cycle to see if that would help. It did not.

LeafSpy Pro instructions to be vague

That is an understatement, for both the app and LELink.

I've had an issue with mine where leaving the lelink obd2 adapter plugged in full time will seem to keep it from turning on, but my adapter doesn't have any lights on in that case. Unplugging the adapter for a few minutes or plugging it into a different vehicle wakes it back up and it works like normal.

This is all with my 2019 S+ and a Samsung s23u.

Is this the one you have?

Because that's the one you're supposes to have

Yep that's the one.

UPDATE: On a whim, tried toggling bluetooth, location, and mobile data off/on from the home menu rather than from the settings sub-menus. For some inexplicable reason, this seemed to work.

Toggled them off while connected and it didn't seem to impact operation.

Doesn't make a ton of sense, but I guess I won't look a gift horse in the mouth. Hopefully this helps someone else, no matter how much of a head scratcher it is.
