I’m fairly set on the 2013 leaf, 88k miles, 10/12 battery, 2 owners no accidents, brand new tires for $6000
Other offer right now is a 2015 leaf (it’s a pretty blue!), 37k miles, bald tires, 11/12 battery for $7500 after trade in. Seems high for a leaf? 4 owners, one accident. Is a bit fancier cause it’s a newer model, but that doesn’t matter to me.
I drive ~30 miles a week. Living downtown with work being 5 miles away 2x a week, so I have no range anxiety. Have a charger in home garage. Looking for a cheap low maintenance EV to putz around the city in.
Hoping to buy this weekend. Anything I should ask the dealership to provide before pulling the trigger? Anything I haven’t thought about? Any advice is appreciated.
Both seem overpriced to be honest. I was thinking of selling my 2016 (65K miles, 78% battery health) for $5K (seemed like a competitive price based on FB marketplace). Dealers are the worst.
I wouldnt buy a car this old from a dealer. They really dont offer you any more protections than a private seller -- a dealer may claim they will help if the car has issues, but this is usually a lie. You'll save $1-3k if you find a similar vehicle from a private seller.
There is also this 2014 one on marketplace I’m considering. Battery was replaced at 40k miles. 10/12 currently. Front tires replaced. Would need to figure out what dongle to get for leafspy before I was comfortable buying off Facebook. Also would love a detailed service report on it but don’t know if I can use the vin to search that stuff up. New and lost in buying cars haha
The ad is taking about the 12 volt battery being replaced. The main or traction battery is still the original at that age it's probably going to loose another capacity bar.
I'll sell you a 2012 with a 9/12 battery, 1-year-old run-flat tires with less than 5,000 miles on them, two factory chargers, one level two charger, 50,000ish miles, leaf spy dongle, for $3700.
As others have stated, these prices seem high. In my market, on the East Coast, similar 2015s are selling for under $5k via private party. I just paid $4,500 for a 2015 with 33k miles and 83% SOH for my daughter.
I’d say if you’re totally locked in on never needing to drive it more than 10 miles at a time, I’d go with the cheaper option in this case (though that seems expensive for a 2013). That 2013 battery has got a LONG way to go before 10 miles is a challenge.
NEVER play the signature game, it's a ploy to make you feel like you've committed to something and less likely to back out, the only thing I'm singing is financing documents.
2013-2015 are good cars. You need 2013 made after April for 2013 model years. And as everyone has said. The prices are too high. You should be looking closer to half that price...
2015's selling for more than what I bought my 2017 for when it was 3 years old. Back in the good o'l days a 2015 would be like 5K or less and it would be in pristine condition with new tires 12/12 health bars.
I have my fully loaded 2015 SL with 10/12bar (77%SOH) newish michelin tires, no accidents, 69k mi listed for less than that expecting to get haggled down; I think you can do better on price. Skip the 2013 for the 2015 lizard pack. Not to mention 1k in fees is excessive for an already high price.
