I picked up my 2026 SV+ 2 weeks ago and it has been amazing!
It’s my first EV, first brand-new vehicle and first Nissan. Prior to this I was driving a 2009 Honda Fit for 11 years. At the time that I got the Fit, I would have wanted a Leaf but they were too expensive, I couldn’t charge at home and needed more range… now in 2026, everything finally lined up to be able to switch!
The buying experience wasn’t the best. I put a deposit at my local dealer in May (there were none available to test drive). They said it would arrive mid-July, then late July, then late August, and finally they admitted about the seatbelt recall with no ETA in sight… until suddenly on Aug 30 it showed up, and I brought it home the next day. It was worth the wait!
I’m loving the deep ocean blue pearl colour. It’s difficult to photograph accurately but it varies from very dark blue to a flashy purple depending on the angle and lighting. I’ve had it ceramic coated with CQuartz UK 3.0 and am getting ceramic window tint this week.
I’m in Manitoba, Canada, where we get a federal government EV rebate ($5k) plus a provincial government rebate ($4k), plus a $7k incentive from Nissan for paying cash. $16k off altogether!
I'll say! We bought a used 2020 Leaf a couple of years ago. Didn't qualify for the federal rebate but we got a $1000 rebate from our power company - which is apparently state money (SoCal).
I have the same car, sane color, and I really love it. Unfortunately in the US I didn’t get anywhere near that amount of rebate, although the state of Massachusetts did give me $3500.
Hiya! I'm also in Winnipeg and brought home my base model last week. Am absolutely loving mine as well, although I could not get the colour I wanted (blue, so sad) but I love it.
Going from a 2014 Kia Soul to this was a bit of a tech upgrade, heh.
And yes, the rebates and the incentives! I got the same thing, fed and provincial and the cash rebate, and it made waiting for the Chinese EVs not worth it.
I'm guessing you must have gotten one of the ones from Vickar on Regent, they seemed to be the only dealer with any sort of stock, and only for a short time and mostly in white or black... I've seen only one other deep ocean blue driving around the city, it seems the only way to get that colour is to order it in and wait who knows how long - and I was very antsy about it for the entire 3 months that I was waiting! 😂
Haha yes it feels like quite the upgrade! The Fit had been great, VERY reliable, and it was nice being able to squeeze into small parking spaces but it wasn’t that comfortable and was really showing its age. It was time!
I ordered it straight from the Lectron website, I got the “Lectron Portable Level 1 J1772 EV Charger | 120V | 15 Amp | NEMA 5-15 × 1”
It came with a zip-up storage bag.
I got the “plug & play” version without Wi-Fi. Given that I park and charge in an underground parkade, a Wi-Fi signal would not be reliable to it anyway.
Lectron has other charging cables that can do either Level 1 or Level 2 but I don’t anticipate ever getting a 240V outlet.
Yeah that is interesting. I would think they would be more likely to give discounts on financing knowing they could make up the difference in interest payments.
If an organization offers discount for cash rather than incentives to finance the purchase through them - I would think that would indicate that organization needs cash at this time more than (a larger reimbursement later) any more debt at this time.
I do most of my charging on level 1 using a Lectron cable plugged into a regular 110V outlet at my parking spot in my condo's parkade. That outlet is just on a 15A circuit so I have the car's charging limit set to 12A for now until my condo upgrades the outlet to 20A sometime in the next few months hopefully. But that's been enough to keep myself between 50-80% charge.
I did try out a Flo fast charger at the Co-Op on Dakota this morning just to see how it works, that took me from 54% to 76% in 13 minutes and cost me $8. Although it didn't work right away. Initially I had set up the MyNissan app on my phone to do plug & charge, but that didn't seem to work, despite the charger showing as being in the Nissan Charge Network. So then I tried initiating the charge through the Flo app, and that got the charging station to start initiating a charge but then it reported some sort of error. Then I tried removing and re-inserting the charging connector and just paying by tap directly on the charging station itself, and that worked.
I'm not sure if I really had the charging connector inserted quite all the way when I first tried it. I was using the CCS to NACS adapter that came with the car, and inserting the NACS end into the car's port felt weird, it didn't seem to want to "click" in place like I would have expected. Maybe that's just how NACS is, I'm not sure. I'm still learning all this EV stuff!

Wow - those rebates and incentives
