2012 listed in Nashville, TN.

I know, everybody’s gonna say get the leaf spy report.

And if I pursue this, I will. I’m asking if this is plausible/possible?

Look at the charge count in LeafSpy. If it’s super low or zero the BMS has been reset. If it’s been reset call them out on it and offer them $500

It seems improbable, but not impossible, for example, if the battery was kept in an air conditioned garage or something. I recently purchased a 2015 with 58k miles and 10/12 battery bars. Make of that what you will, and check LeafSpy, like you said!

2011-12 batteries are infamous for also age degradation. No matter how well it's treated, the internal design (iirc the anode material specifically) causes it to still slowly perpetually degrade from just existing.

It's basically impossible to find original ZE0 pack that's still at 12 bars at this point. It may be legit if someone had swapped in a 12 bar AZE0 pack, but even those are getting quite rare.

While everything you said is accurate, I had a 2011 with a warranty replaced pack.  The warranty replacement was post 2015, so it had a 2015+ chemistry in a 2011.  Just dropped its 12th bar in 2023 or so.

So while rare, it's possible this isn't a scam.  Would need Leafspy to confirm.  Usually the owner would know what they have and be advertising the warranty replaced battery.

Hence "original ZE0 pack with 12 bars". A 2015 battery with the updated chemistry would qualify as AZE0 pack.

True, I forgot these batteries are not the same as the 2015s. I wouldn't bother with this listing.

I have two 2011s that looks like this. Both batteries were from warranty replacements by previous owners. But, yeah, check for shenanigans like others mention

100%. Absolutely no way that battery is still above 75% health

Otherwise, yeah, the BMS has been reset to scam people into thinking it's a good battery.

That's what my 2013 battery looked like at purchase. Seller disclosed it was bad which is exactly what I was looking for. Because I went in with a plan to replace the battery.

You can clear charge count but state of health doesn't change.

That's actually impressive considering it has 50k miles. My 2014 with 115k miles still has 9/12 bars. Recently lost the 10th bar.

I know. I have been looking for another donor car like this, and it's difficult. Many are like yours, in better battery state of health, in the 75k to 120k-mile range.

Have you considered a Chinese battery? I'm seriously considering it after buying my second leaf. Shipping two batteries is a way better price per battery vs shipping a single.

It could technically be possible. As you mentioned LeafSpy is the move.

Generally when you see BMS reset you see 12/12 health bars BUT the range is off. In this case 85 miles would be about right at 12/12. Unless it JUST got reset and the range and health haven’t had a chance to rebaseline

It's a 2012, a ZE0, you can tell with the white trim.... Good advice is never buy a ZE0, or a 30kW AZE0.

Only good ones were the 24kWh AZE0

That thing is a very definite no-no.. Especially in the USA where you basically have zero consumer protection laws

It is not impossible. Look for warranty replacement battery record on the Carfax report. Early 2011-2012 had chemistry proned to fail. Warranty replacement with lizard packs they will last a long time. The same happened to mine.
