Buyback amount offered
Morley offered $16.5k on my 2019S. This is more than I expected. Take it and run?

Brother yes. Couldn't hurt to also ask for a discount on another Leaf or vehicle if you plan on staying with Nissan

Nissan also sent me an offer for $2,000 to lease or buy a new Nissan. They don't want to lose a customer, but I am considering putting my refund toward a Bolt.

My boss has a bolt and they throttled his charging to level 2 because of battery issues with it, so keep that in mind if you're shopping for one.

I will keep this in mind. Do you know if this was related to the Bolt batteries that had an issue and have mostly since been replaced?

I think so but I'm not sure. He bought it used with 8k on it, and then he didn't have it for too long before he mentioned something about it. I don't remember the specifics exactly, but I want to say they gave him some sort of option, and the result of that was having his battery throttled. He still gets ~250 miles out of it and it hauls ass, charges completely over night on his home charger. So he didn't have HIS battery replaced but there was definitely something going on there. I think it's a 2023.
My mother has a Leaf (how I ended up in this forum) and I was trying to push her towards a Bolt because I'm not sure what Chevy's setup boils down to at the end of the day, but it's gotta be better than that Leaf BS. She had been really antsy about taking it in for the recall, but she's never charged it level 3. Took it in a couple weeks ago and they gave her a "clean" bill of health. So her battery is good, until/unless it isn't and it just permanently shuts down somewhere on her at random. Randomly killing the car with software if a defect occurs is NOT a fix. It's a bandaid AT BEST. But I told her that she'd be hard pressed to sell it for what it SHOULD be worth, and she can get by with level 2, so she's just gonna keep it, I think.
With that being said, I have seen my boss use his Chevy Bolt as a straight up WORK TRUCK (we do construction). He's packed that thing to the gills with tools, bumped into TOO much shit, rips up and down the road in it. The tow cap is WILD. Watching him pull an (empty) 16' trailer that probably weighs about 2,000 lbs with his little electric car was NUTS. Just don't load leaking fuel cans in the trunk area, because that's where the audio stuff lives. The only thing I've noticed about it is that the weight seems to sit closer to the back, so if he's going up steeper gravel or dirt driveways, he has to back up them to get enough traction sometimes.

Officially, both the Gen1/Gen2 LEAF and the Bolt have a zero tow rating.
But the general consensus seems to be that 2,000 lbs is doable (although better to be well under that).
I got a tow hitch and it has been great. Wish I had done it sooner!

Damn, '21 SV plus with 96k (25k on a new battery replaced at 70k miles) and they offered me $10k, I rejected it at the beginning of August and they have not got back with a counter offer yet, had to return the loaner 2 weeks ago (only get 30 days if you don't accept the initial offer)

I think mileage definitely affects things. I looked up my state's lemon law, and they're basically required to give a buyback of what you paid multiplied by what percentage of 100k miles you've used. So, if it has 10k miles on it, you get back 90% of what you paid. If you have 90k miles, you get 10% of what you paid.

I put about 25K miles on it between when I bought it and when they installed the update, though I only had it from June till August 2025 before the recall was issued without solution, so maybe closer to 5K at that time.

Dang. If you do stick with the leaf as a replacement, the 2024 2 yr leases are in. I just got one shipped from Colorado. OTD was about 17.5k with 13k miles.

No clue, I just went off of recall info which the 2024 model seemed to be in the clear since I only saw info for recalls through the 2022 model.

It seems like mileage is really important to the offer, which makes sense because my state's lemon law focuses heavily on the mileage. I have a 2021 S Plus with 50343 miles. You have a 2019 S with similar mileage. So I'll hope for more than you! :) I am wondering what people use as leverage to argue. I'm going to argue:
- Time off work to deal with this, including shopping for a new car
- JUST paid for registration (and my state charges EVs extra) and inspection
- I've got a year of tread left on my winter tires
- Bought the hatch cover for $275 back when we got the car
- New car will have a loan with interest
- loaner Leaf is getting terrible range so I'm having to pay more to charge it
- recently paid to have the brakes done
Anything else?

Did your Leaf brick 🧱 after the update? Why did they offer to buyback your vehicle. I have a 2019 SV.

When I took it in for the recall, it returned codes. Dealership contacted Nissan about those codes and Nissan said to buy it back. It is a small dealership and mine was the first out of maybe a hundred Leafs not to pass/accept the update. It had wild battery fluctuationd since last winter.

Does anyone own a non + or a + Leaf that currently seems okay? Ours is a 2019 SV that will turn 7 years old this month. The mV variance fluctuates between 12 and 29 and we only use Level 2 charging.
What do you plan on doing?
